My favorite is the book of Esther (Old Testament). It's about a young Jewish woman who becomes the wife of a king. The kings' (evil) adviser tells him that the Jews are going to overthrow him (not true) and advises the king to kill all the Jews in his land. Queen Esther, hearing this, prays to God and, trusting in Him, risks her life by going to the king to persuade him to spare the Jews (back then it was death to approach the king without a summons). Of course it works, the king doesn't kill the Jews, and everyone lives happily ever after. =)

There's obviously a lot more to it, but I don't want to take up too much room telling the full story. Check it out if you like.

Even though I'm not religious at all, I did enjoy the story of Job and how his faith withstood all test. I read it for my world lit class and found it entertaining and thought provoking.

the most interesting stories are the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

the Acts of the Apostles and the Letters of Paul, Peter, John, James to the early Christians are interesting too.

including the Book of Revelations.

Why are the above mentioned books interesting?

Because these books tell us how can we be saved.
