How is the service? Does it go out often for weather and such? and do you pay monthly for a dish or do you buy it?, I know nothing about them as you can tell, and I want to make all the right decisions before I decide to go for it. What has it worked out like for you?

well ive had dish network. with them you rent the system and they do all the upkeep and maintenance. you have choses of packages you can get for the number of channels you want.they do tend to go out if the weather gets bad, but usually arent out for very long.you pay a little upfront for installation unless you can find a deal where the installation is free. with direct you buy your dish, so you are responsible for the maintenance if something happens to it. but direct seems to have fewer problems in bad weather. and i think the prices vary some, if you buy your own dish.

The big difference from cable and the others is you can't splice into another tv, or put a splitter in, I have 4 room, with 2 receivers, I got everything hooked up for 49.99 and then it came off my first bill, so install was basically free. I pay 5.00 for the extra receiver and I sign an 18 month contract which all the receivers and dish is warranteed, I had 1 receiver replaced twice in the last 6 months, It happens, so be prepared. One day it worked next day it didn't.
The weather affects it but not much at least not in my area (MA), usually it loses the signal and searches for it and the tv is back on. about 15 sec. Payments aren't bad and they are pretty much the same, If your not fimilar with the DVR, look into it, It's great, I have dish network and use it all the time. Overall I happy with the service. I always get a certificate to refer a friend, If they sign up I get 25.00 and they get free install, and other stuff, So look around I'm sure you will not have to pay all the set-up
