I had a court wedding almost 33 years ago....How time flies!!
I wore a light blue dress (my Mama made the dress) and he wore a suit and a blue shirt & tie. My sister, brother-in-law, and my best friend went with us. I had a corsage, no bouquet, and he had a buttoneire.
You can wear whatever you wish, a nice simple dress sounds just right! Your groom can wear his uniform (I think AF has the coolest uniforms of all!)
You could have a small reception for the wedding attenders at someone's home, or go out to a restaurant. You can have a bigger party later if you wish. (I'm still waiting for mine, 33 years later, lol!)
Good luck to you!

If you want to wear something a bit more fancy than what you would feel comfortable wearing to the courthouse, why not see if you can find an officiant to perform the ceremony? And one that gives discounts to servicemen/veterans. You wouldn't happen to be near Ohio, now would you?
You can have a wedding at almost any place, even the reception venue which is becoming quite popular. Restaurant, B&B, hotel, home, garden, museum, Art gallery.
To find an officiant type into Yahoo your city, state & wedding officiant (no 's' on the end) There'll be a few to chose from.
If you still decide to go the courthouse way, your dress will be just fine.

I had a pretty simple wedding by today's standards, but if I had to do it all over again, it would be simpler still. I'd still get married in the same church or a nice location, but it would be a bit smaller and with fewer people. Most of the weddings today I think are way over the top and the money spent on one day could go toward a house, or toward saving for one or for other more meaningful things the couple will need. The day is a total blur anyway - I remember a few things but it was busy hectic, fun day and we didn't spend a fortune. And you don't get to spend much time with people if you have a huge crowd. You can spend more time with people who are close to you if the wedding is smaller. My nephew and his fiancee are planning a simple wedding and I think they are smart. Simple does not have to be cheap and can be really nice.

I did that. My husband is in the Marine Corps. Honestly, we plan on having a big ceremony another day so we just went in our regular close and got hitched. Looking back though, I think I would have rather worn a dress or at least something nicer. I little white dress sounds perfect to me. Most of all though, do what makes you happy. Weddings, no matter where you have them, are your day. Noone else's opinion really matters. Take pictures though. Even if they are with a disposable camera because we didn't thinking we would just have the pictures and the formal ceremony... and I really regret it because when it comes down to it... that's when it was official and it's still so important. Wear what you picked sounds really nice. Good luck and congratulations.

Do you mean get married by a Judge in the court? WE DID matter of fact the Judge was blown away when he came into the room (he was in the middle of a murder trial) and there we all were, family, guests and us all dressed up-I wore a baby blue cotton suit and a white lace blouse, and a white hat, my hubby wore all white, I thought that was cute, including shoes. We were married on June 12 1990-then we went out into the sunshine and had pictures taken. Then on to the steakhouse. Hubby couldn't wait.

I'm single and never been married but most people i know that did the court wedding thing wore a simple white dress, and the man a suit. By simple meaning that you could wear it anytime but still a little dressy. Congrats!

When my husband and I went to the courthouse to get our license, we saw people who were in jeans and people who were in full wedding attire. It depends on the style of your small ceremony. Don't base it on what other people do. Give yourself a wedding that will be what YOU want. (The first time I got married I wore jeans and an Adidas jacket...the second time I was fully decked out in the big white dress) It's totally up to you and your almost-husband.

This is your wedding day. You wear exactly what you want to wear in order to make this day memorable. My sister was married at a law office on Valentine's Day. She wore a traditional wedding dress and her husband wore a nice suit. If you plan on taking pictures afterwards then you definately want to look nice. If you decide to go non traditonal, it will never be to late to have a traditional wedding later.

I myself did not have a court wedding, but I'm sure whatever you pick to wear will be fine. It's your special day and the only thing that matters is sharing the day with the one you love. Congrats and good luck on your marriage!

I wore a white sundress and he wore an outfit that I liked on him. My mom wanted me to wear this big hideous dress, and i refused. I didn't see much of a point. I am glad we didn't go all out, the marriage only lasted a month.
