Skylight, you email me at silkytg72006@yahoo.com and tell me more? I've never run into ANYONE else who has pinkie pain and I've been miserable for about three years now. Tell me about you. Silk

Carpal tunnel syndrome is exactly as it says, it affects the carpal tunnel. Your pinkies don't have anything to do whatsoever with the carpal tunnel where the medial nerve runs and gets squished. Your pinkies are affected by the unla nerve running alongside the hand and not in the tunnel at all that's why this dx is so troubling. I've found nothing to support cts and the pinkie.

Trigger points are rather easy to explain. When your body gets tensed up from exertion, stress, nerves, pain, and a lot of other things, your muscles and nerve endings work against each other. Sometimes it may feel like a knot along your muscles, other times a small spot that is very tender to touch. Only a doctor can truly diagnose these. It isn't like a broken bone, they don't show up on XRays.

The doctor can provide a shot of a local numbing medicine directly into the spot. The medicine will cause the muscle and nerve to relax and release the tension that they are placing on each other.

I have never heard of one associated with the hand, but I haven't been looking either. It may be as common as apple pie.

Here's a link to a book that helps you work on trigger points yourself. Your library might even have it or be able to get through interlibrary loan if you can't buy it.
