My heart goes out to the children in certain parts of Africa who are starving, theyre bellies bulging, starving to death. Our church donates to them all the time.
But my question is...If we (Americans) are going to help, why cant we teach the adults about using condoms and birth control?? Why cant we (americans) educate them? Is it possible to give the adults conraception and education AND give the kiddos some food at the same time??? I mean, if they cant afford to feed themselves, why have kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I realize that us americans have a hard time controlling ourselves, but at leaste there are 'planned parenthood' facilities to take use of. Put some Planned Parenthood Centers in those parts of Africa or help the family relocate where there are job opportunites and better living conditions.

SO, what all of you are saying..
Is that they are AGAINST contraception b/c of their "religion" but they are FOR having children so that the children can STARVE and DIE. Theyre religion requires them to have children they cant afford to feed, the children die, and eveyrthing is ok?? I think not. For those who can have kids and feed them, fine.

I am with you! tax dollars should go to bc pills and sex education and condoms instead of us parenting all the unwanted children and poor country children world wide. girls/women are having babies like bunnies and they don't know what to do. Well they know how to have sex that's for sure. BC for all girls/women and condoms for men regardless of their religion.. I get so tired of hearing people call their unborn children accidents when there is prevention. I think all the support our government gives with our tax dollars should be regulated and cut off to those who got on the system with one child and then turn around and have more. Is their religon okay with having kids just to watch them starve and die?

I think that the issue you raised doesnt just happen in Africa- it happens all over the world- even here in America. You can try to implement some types of aid in other places, but due to local customs, varying religions, lack of knowledge about basic health, and lack of help from the governments, it wont go far.

A lot of women in 3rd world countriess do not have access to education so they can learn about their own bodies. Many live in male-dominated areas and have to do as told. That means many give birth to children and dont even understand the process.

Sometimes a little bit of education goes a long way, but until there are equal rights around this world for all women, you can help all you want, but it wont do any good.

As far as Africa- they have many problems from political corruption to militants who believe their way is the only way.

customs may not allow this as said. Also as not many people are aware of, governmnet control is not as is it here. they steal from the people. Out of billans of dollars that the US sends to africa, not to mention other areas, 90% goes to government either by tax or by the people getting and government destroys the town and take away. It is the government there that is corrupt, not that the people are so poor. The people could be doing well with all our help, if they receive it. Our government, knowing this stil allows all this money to go to africa's corrupt government and tells us they are actually helping the people. They are but in such a small way it's outragious. So you know, it's money items or what ever. They are also secluded from outside world. and think alot of what they have came from their country when it diddn't. The only one who has internet connection is their leader

Please consider the root of the many serious problems in most African countries: corruption, lack of infrastructure, improper handling of aid money and food, crime, drought...the list goes on and on. Plopping a planned parenthood in the middle of all of this is not going to solve the problem. Children are the only future Africa - any country for that matter - has.

Im all for it, but does your church support the birth control. Thats also something to think about if they're the ones sponsoring programs and the religion of people there.

The problem isn't just making contraception available and teaching people how to use it. Different countries have different culture than the United States. Cultural beliefs may inhibit citizens from using contraception even if it is available.

I was going to say exactly what Heather Y said..

as an aside to your additional details......it doesn;t matter what you think is right, they have freedom of religion, and NO ONE can tell them that they have to do it differently.
