There are studies to suggest that certain colors are more soothing for resting, relaxing and sleeping while others evoke energy, revitalization and activity. Relaxing colors include, taupe, robin's egg blue, celadon green, and they tend to fall in the middle of the paint samples for any given color. You would be fairly safe to choose a pastel color for a restful bedroom. Those that are classified as energetic colors include, orange, yellows, reds, and bright colors which tend to fall in the upper end of the paint samples.

very bright colours tend to make you feel more lively, red is traditionally a colour associated with anger so is a bad colour to have in your room. Calm colours tend to be best; pale greens, blues and lilacs. If you want to invoke some passion try a 'feature wall' of deep purple or pink.
Having said that, its entirely your own choice and different colours affect different people in different ways.
Paint large pieces of paper in potential colours and sit and stare at it for a few minutes. Imagine a whole room of it- how do you feel? If you feel calm and happy and relaxed it might be the right colour for your bedroom walls.

All military vehicles in the 60's had the interiors painted in eau de nil as this was proved to be a very stressless colour, maybe times have changed but I think its worth experimenting on a small area first. Good luck and sleep well

I have tried blues, pinks etc. etc., but have found the neutral shades work wonders as a good background -i.e. taupe, beige. To add a splash of vibrancy stick a few cushions on your bed, or hang a bright painting/picture to break it up.
