Is Levequin (antibiotic) in the same family as erythromicans?
I am allergic to EES, and just curious

No. Levaquin, the chemical name is levofloxacin is in the category of of antibiotics called quinolones. Erythromycin is in the category of macrolides. They each have their own potential adverse reactions, but the are not chemically related; and sensitivity to one should not be associated with sensitivity to the other.

No. Levaquin is in a family called the quinolones - similar to Cipro and Avelox. EES is erythromycine, which is in a family called the macrolides - related to Zithromax and Biaxin. You should be fine. If there is a reaction, it is a new allergy and not a cross-reaction. Good luck!

It's in the Cipro family, like Tequin. I am allergic to penicillin, EEM, etc., and can take Levequin just fine. Good luck!

No it is not in the same family and your doc would not prescribe it if there was a chance for cross reaction.
