Hi, Bangkok is not a whole city of red-light district that many people are misled to believe. The skimpily cladded ladies are only found in night clubs and bars, as in any where else in the world. So if you just avoid the known girlie-bar areas like Patpong, Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza, you and your family will be fine.

Thais do dress up quite well and conservatively. Take a walk to the department stores and you will know what I mean. In the business district, the people are well, well-dressed too. So do not be mistaken by what some minorities are spreading about Bangkok.

In fact, the Thai ladies wear skimpy dresses for the foreigners, not for themselves.

In Bangkok there are many family-themed parks for the family. Traveling to these places will definitely not be an issue for your family.

Have a good holiday in Bangkok.

I have been all over Thailand and Bangkok(BKK) and have never seen naked girls there. People are all well dressed and nothing goes on in public, however, if you did want to see action just ask a taxi driver to take you to a girlie bar. . . .and then watch for the ripoff.

You did not ask for this, however a word of caution in BKK, pick pockets are everywhere, do not change money from people on the street. . .at a street change kiosk OK. DO NOT TAKE A NIGHT BUS IN OR OUT OF BKK, you will get robbed.

More often than not it is foreign tourists who are wearing "less clothes" - by this I think you mean skimpy outfits.. I think if you stay out of red light areas, you will not see much of this as most Thais are rather modest in dress. Even if you go to the beach, most Thai ladies will go swimming in short pants and a t-shirt.. it is the foreigners who are often less modest.

There is more to Thailand than just Bangkok. Why not go up to Chiang Mai or one of the other provinces and see history, culture and tradition in real life. That seems to be what you are looking for.

I will repeat my recent advice to another question about Thailand:"
My advice is :"DO NOT GO TO THAILAND". Go to Vietnam instead. Vietnam is much safer and cleaner, the resorts and hotels are newer and more up-to-date, the people friendlier and more helpful and the prices are much lower for the same level of luxury/amenities". In addition, you'll find the women and girls in Vietnam dress much more attractively but less provocatively than in Thailand.
