I am trying to buold my muscles as well as get a good cardio workout. However I am having problems. I try to lift weights, but usually what happens is that my muscles tire long before I manage to get in half an hour, say, of working out.

If I increase the weights, the workout will become shorter and I presume less effective for the heart. So how do I balance getting a good cardio workout with strength training? It takes me about five minutes to do 30 or so chest presses. How can I get a lengthy workout this way? Thanks in advance.

weight lifting and cardio dont really work like that. cardio is done as a seperate part of your workout. for cardio try jogging on the treadmil for 10 to 15 minute before you begin your weight lifting
if you cant jog then walk at a quick pace for about 20 minutes.

swimming is also a good cardio workout

the fact that your muscles do get tired is a good sign that your a working them to the max. even though you may not be working out for a long tiime as in duration you are getting the most out of your muscles when the begin to fatigue and fail

i hope this helps

to get good cardio, i would say jog, or play a sport, ride a bike. to gain muscle just eat 4-6 meals a day, and work out a couple hours a week. when you start to get tired, take a couple min. break, and start again. you should try really light weights and do more reps

The 7 year old should be able to take care of him/herself and help you out unless there is something really wrong with him/her. Kids like to be more grown up so if the 7 year old wants to be more grown up, here's the jump off point. :o) If you want your hubby healthy, you need to let him give it a try at least and your routine will have to change. 50 pounds is pretty serious. I know it's a drag taking care of 3 kids but you need him around for the long term so I'm afraid this is just something you'll have to work in to your life. Best of luck ^_^
