I get really sick of hearing people talk about issues or concerns, or reading what people write about those same things, because it all seems like its coming from a script, very rehearsed and practiced and politically correct. I do not believe most of what I hear and read because its not real. How am i supposed to believe someone who says they are against racism, etc.... when everything they say sounds like it came from some pamphlet? I find most of this coming from the liberal side because they tend to be way too tentative and careful in the first place, but conservatives do their own censoring as well. I believe that ideas and beliefs should be told like it is!

Most people don't think. They repeat what they hear and read. All it takes is a little dialogue to discover that they have no concept of the philosophy or idealism behind what they say, and they have no interest in digging deeper to gain understanding. It's a sheep mentality. They follow the most popular wave, considering themselves educated and worldly in knowledge, while not being capable of unbiased perspective. They cling to their uninformed opinions because it's too much work to think for themselves.

Fear keeps people from thinking too much. If I go against the popular notions, then I may be singled out for criticism and ridicule. I may be forced to defend my beliefs in the face of contradictory information, exposing my lack of factual information. I may look like a fool.

A wise man once said, "It is better to be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt".

I agree that people are towing the party line, whatever that is, because it is easier to agree and let someone else take responsibility for the rights and wrongs of an issue than it is to voice an honest dissention and be forced to accept the consequences. In this way, the truth of a matter is hidden, and people become more and more ignorant, while posing as advanced.

Why are you so judgmental, If you feel that way about what you read, then maybe you need to quit reading and go out and start a conversation.
I have never seen a group with so much unbelief in any thing and negative thinking. Some of you don't give yourself a chance.

People do not (in general) speak freely, because they consider how their words may be taken by all. They take time to choose the correct words that explain best what they mean, without offending others.

I think this is a good thing.

If I said everything that came into my mind, I'd have been shot at least eighteen times. If I managed to survive the shootings, I'd be on every government list imaginable and the target of various groups including but not limited to: PETA, Greenpeace, Dem party, Hillary Clinton (scariest of all!), Iran, DOE, .... need I continue?

I agree, but the question is, how long before people take it to the point of not just words but actions. Civility, even if only a facade, does keep the peace to a degree.

I happen to think that deliberation is a positive. To deliberate means to think. My contention is that most people tend to blurt out all sorts of nonsense, in awful grammar, with rotten spelling because they don't think.

we're a product of our environment. we're pretty much copying the way we see someone else (typically people on tv) handle a touchy situation. some people are bad at it. so they seem fake. they are fake. no one knows how to be themselves anymore.
