Aww, I'm so sorry! The doctor may be right though. Maybe it IS a virus, or maybe an allergic reaction to something in the surroundings.

Hope I helped!

ive noticed that when a doctor doesnt really know whats wrong with a child they will just call it a virus,it could just be a virus but you cant be too careful were kids are concerned.the fact he is still eating and drinking sounds good but the crying and drowsiness doesnt.just make sure u keep his temperature down and keep an eye on him {also it could be the calpol making him drowsy}.but you no your own child and if your really worried take him the hospital and get a second opinion.

Hi, If you're not happy with the diagnosis, please see another doc. In the meantime, keep his temp down with regular doses of calpol ( check bottle for correct dose ), sponge him down with tepid water and keep him undressed - just a nappy, or vest and nappy. Keep offering him plenty of water to drink.

The pus in the eye sounds exactly like conjunctivitis which will probably need antibiotic eye drops to clear it. It is also contagious, so be careful not to share his towels or touch your own eyes after touching his. You can bathe his eyes with cool boiled water and cotton wool - gently wipe over his closed eye, from inner to outer corners. Just wipe once and then discard that piece of cotton wool and use another piece. Make sure you wash your hands before and after doing this. My kids have all had mild doses of conjunctivitis which cleared up after bathing, but please check with your doctor as he might well need eye drops.

The side of face may be red due to his high temperature or perhaps he has a tooth coming through ( common sign of teething is a red cheeck on the side the tooth is cutting through on ), and a runny nose isn't something to worry about on his own.

Kids get all sorts of bugs and viruses, but you are his mother and know him better than anyone. If you are concerned, get him back to the doctor straight away. A good doctor won't mind being called out when it's about a child's health, it's always better to be safe than sorry.

I really hope he feels better very soon.

Take him to the ER. Sometimes when the doctor sees the child the child is not that bad. Or if you did take the child to the ER take him/her to the doctor. Doctors aren't always right. It sounds like a very bad infection and the child needs some antibiotics. Meanwhile give the child cool baths and give it motrin for fast fever relief and go back and forth with motrin and tylenol after that. Please get a second opinion. Take the child to a children's hospital they really know how to take care of little ones. Also the tingling in the hands maybe a blood pressure thing........or the infection has gotten really bad and is sweeling up his hand or arm and is cutting off blood curculation. Go to a doctor again!!! The ER won't make you pay if you cannot...........just tell them to bill you.

It probably is a virus. And as you know, there is nothing you can do for a virus. He is eating and drinking and his nose is clear, those are good signs. Just because his ear and tonsils are red does not nessarcily mean they are infected, it could be the virus. I am sure you already know you can give him childrens motrin for the fever and swelling of the tonsils.

But with him having pus in his eye, he has conjuctivitis and that requires anti-biotic. I would definately take him to a pediatrician in your area.

Not being a doctor anyone who you ask on this site who is not a specialist and does not know your son or yourself could not begin to speculate on what is causing your little boy so much discomfort.

As he is still suffering I think it was very unfair for the doctor to not at least monitor him and see if there is any kind of improvement or worsening in his symptoms.

If there is more than one practitioner at your surgery I would ask for a second opinion from them.

You are his mother and know better than anyone how your son is and what is normal behaviour for him.

Follow your mothering instincts adn don't let up until you get some answers, not only for your childs health but for your own sanity and peace of mind too. If you continue to get nowhere speak to your health visitor or demand a referral to see an ear nose and throat specialist at your local hospital. Any good doctor would not feel you are wasting his/ her time and it is their duty to persevere until you are satisfied.

I really hope you get this sorted soon, my thoughts are with you and your little man. x

If you are in doubt go back to your doctor- otherwise trust your instincts- keep him cool, with plenty of liquids to drink. Keep a close eye on him- young children often get viruses which seem aweful at the time, but a few hours later they are fine again- but don't take any chances if you are not sure- call your GP again- that's what they are there for.
Hope he's better soon.xx

I'd give him another day or so and alot of cuddle time and some infant tylenol or motrin along with fluids. If hes not feeling better by tomorrow and seems to be getting worse I would go to the er or another doc. Mommy usually knows if something isn't right so listen to your gut feeling.

I'm not sure about all the rest of the symptoms except for the fever and the green pus coming out of his eye. I just went through a similar situation with my daughter who is 10 months, she had her eyes so crusted up with pus she couldn't open them in the morning and a faver. took her to the doctor he gave her oral antibiotics and antibiotic eye drops and it has cleared up thank goodness. doc said it was due to a systemic infection. anytime you have pus, it is a sign of an infection, he needs treatment

I am a bit worried about the fever and puss. Sounds like he needs medical intervention. Get him to another doctor to find out what is wrong.
