The Bible claims that life was created by a living thing (God).
Evolution claims that life evolved from the combination of proteins and a lightening strike on what was once a lifeless rock.
We know that living things can create other living things (we do it all the time through pregnancy). When have scientists ever observed life being created from something inorganic, or is this a faith-based belief?

Weird War: "life giving proteins" is not life.
Life replicates itself. Is that what the proteins did? If so, what is the name of their species?

Andy, my friend: big words don't scare me. Neither life nor evolution can exist without "abiogenesis". You can't just pretend to be right and call yourself a scholar, you have to back it up.

NH: life from inorganic material IS untestable.

Sansfear is a perfect example of the dishonest practice of making up facts before offering criticism. Otherwise, why would he claim that 2 million animals fit on the ark? Not only does the Bible not say this, there aren't 2 million species of "animals" in the world. The lions share of the current 3 million are insects, plants and single cells.
Requests for more intelligent discussion are sometimes entirely fruitless when dealing with people who hate Christians.

WellTraveled: thanks for the smoke and mirrors. In order for evolution to be a viable theory, it must offer a framework for all fundamental questions (including where and when life began).
Calling it by a different name and shifting away from the responsibility is cowardly. My point, if true, levels the entire theory.

It is faith-based. Especially since we have never seen lightning create life.
We can mix proteins today and all you have is a mix of proteins, because the proteins by themselves are not alive. If we apply electricity, all we have is fried proteins. A fried egg.
Faith is believing in what you cannot see. We have never seen man evolve from an ape, nor do we have any written records of that ever happening. We do not see fish turn into crocodiles or dinosaurs grow feathers and become birds. Biology is a series of working patterns around us and none of these patterns ever show species becoming something they are not.
Requires more faith to believe in evolution than to simply say a higher power than us created life.

Evolution claims nothing. It is an explanation of how animals develop and change over time. The Big Bang theory (and others) discusses the origins of the universe and of life in general. Science has yet to fully understand the origins of the universe and then there is the problem of how the matter got there to "bang" in the first place. Maybe a God put the speck there. Then comes the question "Where did the God come from?" Science seeks to understand and answer these questions and many others by observing and studying and finding. This things aren't a faith-based belief. There is no faith in science there are only facts, ideas of how that may have happened and why they happened that way and the search to see if the ideas have merit.
No one claimed life emerged on earth from anything inorganic. Organic does not mean alive, it means carbon-containing. The early amino acids and other primordial ooze would have been organic, not a rock.
Pregnancy is not the only way to spawn life. Many life form use asexual reproduction, no pregnancy needed.
Evolution has no life or intelligence of its own anymore than Algebra. No one would say that Algebra claims anything, please stop saying that evolution claims, it can't. And slap your Biology teacher.

"evolution" makes no such claim -- you are very confused.
Evolution explains how from a single simple life form the great variety of species on this planet have evolved.
There are several "hypotheses" (which are different from "theories" -- go look it up) which are being investigated as to the origins of those first simple life forms, but none of them have (YET) gathered enough evidential support to achieve the status of theory.
The myth in the bible, on the other hand, has no evidential support of any kind -- and so is NOT a theory. And since it offers no provable or falsifiable predictions, it's not a hypothesis, either. It's just a myth that can never be proven -- and thus can be safely ignored.
When has anybody ever observed "god" creating anything? Never.
The difference? The scientific hypotheses make predictions that can be observed and tested to show whether they're true or not. The religious myth does not. There is no faith involved in the scientific hypotheses, science just needs time to do the research and reach conclusions based on evidence and observation. Since no such research, evidence, or observation is possible for the religious myth, it is of no consequence and is irrelevant.

True we have never observed organic life forming from inorganic materials yet......We also haven't observed 2,000,000 animals fitting onto an ark the size of 2 football fields, water changing into wine, a man walking on water, or God.
But the fact that life may have been formed in an inorganic compound seems far more likely than the current story of creation that is rife with contradictions. So to answer your question, I say creationism, even with evolutions shortcomings still requires much more faith. Because in order to swallow creationism you also have to swallow the rest of the Bible with its tales of miraculous events. Did Joshua have God stop the earth for an hour? Seems to me like there would have been quite a bit of turmoil as a result, maybe that is when the continents shifted, breaking up Panthea?

"When have scientists ever observed life being created from something inorganic?"
Oh, I know this one! I just read about it. It was back in the 70's. Some biology student created life-giving proteins and aminos acids out of nothing by using electricity and other material. Now, I will have to remember his name so you don't think I'm a liar. Google it if you don't believe me.

The theory of evolution only deals with biological mechanisms-you should be addressing the fact of species evolution, because that species undergo evolutionary change is not in doubt. Faith doesn't enter into it-the evidence is so overwhelming that it would be perverse to dispute evolution and only the ignorant or bigotted do so. Your last point deals with abiogenesis not biological evolution, although the creation of amino acids has been observed in laboratories and where there are amino acids there are the means of producing life.

we've a marvelous found in God's note the Bible. we may be able to study and meditate on the mind-blowing issues done and going to be done. we inspect Jesus on the stake. Jehovah grow to be there with him actual as a lot because the top. He pulled his Holy Spirit away so Jesus ought to educate himself unswerving. immediately we've an similar attempt coming upon us. we would have educate ourselves integrity keepers without Jehovah's intervention. My faith has continually been, even tho i grow to be being raised Catholic. I knew God and Jesus were 2 seperate people. I knew if I prayed for some thing it would come or take position. really in lack of expertise I advanced a uncomplicated faith, when I grew to grow to be one in each and every of Jehovah's Witnesses did I comprehend i grow to be on course and righted my expertise through bible learn and assembly attendance. My kowledge no longer in trouble-free terms more beneficial yet grew to grow to be precise. My faith tells me that situations will be troublesome in those very last days as does 2 Peter 3:a million-5. My faith tells me that Jehovah is the excellent deliverer and he's conscious of who're his and they understand him. it is the reason learn of scripture is so major and why we ought to continually no longer forsake it or the amassing with ones of like faith. we do not want miracles because faith is in the unseen aspect. once you need to make certain to trust then it isn't faith.

You are not only requiring the faith that life was created by a living being, but that this being is beyond all testable measures, is just as supernatural as Superman or Zeus, that this living being is faster than the speed of light, since the universe is over 96 BILLION light years across, and life has only existed for 4 billion years.
This is not just a question of did God do it or was it caused by abiogenesis (not evolution, by the way). It is a question of rationality over fairy tales.

Leviathan, as in the political work by Hobbes? About Absolutism?
Oh, you are talking about Abiogensis. Look it up.
There are some thing that can't really be truly proven (in the scientific sense). However, we have some good ideas, and a lot of stuff points to it.
BTW, an absense of knowledge is NOT as excuse to place the label "Insert God Here."

One significant point...the bible version assumes that there really was (is) a god. There is no evidence, now and ever, that would support such a assumption......Evolution has supporting evidence, although not complete, it still offers much more rational and intelligent solutions. Therefore the bible claim is completely based on faith, evolution is not.
