I'm on a 30.00 budget for today, I know its not much, but my mom comes home tonight and so she will probably go grocery shopping later this week. I'm 6'4, and only 165 lbs, and I'm looking to gain at least 10-15 lbs if not more. I know I need to consume around 3500 calories, but what are some good healthy foods to gain weight????

thanks

Pasta! Its cheap, and will get you putting on weight. If you can make an alfredo sauce with it (actual ingredients are cheaper, and its SUPER easy to make--milk butter flour salt in a sauce pan..), it would be even better for weight gain. You arent looking to get fat, you are looking to "bulk up" so i suggest heathly high carb and cal diet. Fried foods, chips'n' dip, beer and sweets are just going to get you a spare tire that you will end up wanting to lose.

Good luck! I sure wish i was in your shoes!

Good healthy foods for weight gain are carbohydrates but not white sugar kind! White sugar is bad for the system. Better is molasses or maple syrup if you have a sweet tooth.

Fatty foods are weight gain-ers, but then you will have to deal with a cholesterol issue maybe.

White bread is not healthy either, so if you eat bread, go for the brown kind that says it has whole wheat flour in it. Putting p'nut butter is good if it is the non-sugary, 'natural' p'nut butter.

Go to the doctor for advice if it is getting hard to stay healthy and plump enough. You may have an issue to deal with.

This is not many people's problem!! Be happy about that!

unfortunately healthy foods are healthy because they are high in nutrition but low in excess calories. You can buy weight gain supplements but those can be pricey. At 6'4'' 165, you're a bit thin. If you want to bulk up I would have to say Eat a lot of ice cream and protein. The ice cream will give you the weight (then it's up to you to work out with weights, not cardio to move that ice cream weight around) apparently you have a high metabolism so you need to slow it down a bit. I don't know your age but believe me, age will slow it down eventually. Then you'll wish you could go back to that weight.

mashed / banked potatoes butter

milk all the time

and you also need 8 glasses of water... ( a glass is 8 oz ) dont freak out.. thats like 1 large coke.

Eat more meat, potatoes, vegetables, and fruit. Avoid sugar, caffeine and a lot of salt. Protein bars may help.

Another information source is to call a local gym and ask one of the trainers. They, most likely, have been trained in nutrition and can answer your question better than anyone.

You get seven bottles in a box if you buy Ensure Plus. Its about seven dollars, which is kinda expensive but you can buy about four (28 bottles) and that will last you for awhile depending on how many you drink a day.

Potatoes are great for the carbs and baked will keep there vitamins intact. Add sour cream and butter for the calories. Also baked goods for the fiber.

complex carbs like whole grain rice, lentils, barley, beans, etc. are all very cheap. fats like natural peanut butter and olive oil are a great way to increase the caloric intake in a healthy manner.
