I will be purchasing a new treadmill and want to spend around $600.00, which one is the best for my price range? I will running on the treadmill, not a lot of walking.

Also, I'm not a active person and I don't want to but my body into shock when I first run, is it safe to start out with a light jog?

Any suggestions would help, thank you.

they aren't that expensive. i bought a brand new one for $800, and it's gym quality, it's a lifespan. you will be able to tell what you can do when you start. i'd start with a warm-up walk, then go to a light jog for as long as you can and then go back to a cool down walk. mix it back and forth as you can. you will be sore for the first week or so. don't forget to get a good diet routine to go with the treadmill. good luck and have fun.

My good brother is an athlete. Yet he always teases me, sometimes a bit unfairly about being sedentary.I can not help that my vocation is art . . and my present discipline is weaving, which takes long hours of sitting, whether at a hand-made wood frame or the table or large loom.
So . . My ex, bought me a second hand treadmill. A flat one, not the type which feels as if one is climbing a hill.
Since we separated, I have accustomed myself to do some daily work on the treadmill. But I bought several bricks and a very tough, hard plank of sturdy wood. Doing this has made the treadmill go on a upward slant. It depends how upwards by how many bricks underneath support it.
It works wonderfully for me, because it adds resistance.
I started slowly : doing 3-5 minutes a day for a week, then increased this regimen by minutes on a weekly level.
I am comfortable now, doing 40 minutes a day, without shocking my muscles and system over all.
Check into second hand places for treadmills and any other exercising machine firstly, if your budget would appreciate the thriftiness.
I watch something on television or listen to music so that I do not get bored while working out.
As far as running, I once ran, but even with the best shoes, my heels responded to the ground with pain afterwards . . so I abandoned it.
As for walking, I walk at a strenuous pace during the spring, summer and autumn.
Not so strenuously, though, that I do not enjoy (also) my walk.
On pleasant spring and fall evenings this is very invigorating to the soul. And gives one the feeling that one has closed the day having provided for oneself, a healthy activity and will gain from it.

A good treadmill will cost between $1500 and $3000. I fyou are only looking to spend $600 you might want to look on EBay, Craigslist, or google search for discount equipment.

If you are not an active person, don't start running right off the bat. Allow yourself time to adjust or you are setting yourself up for failure. Weight loss and good health don't happen over night. It is a process. Start off walking, every few days increase your speed and bit more until you are jogging, then eventually running.

Hi there
First of all you should warm up maybe with ten minute walk just to get your muscles warm and don't shock them, after the walk do sum stretching and get on your new treadmill, after your session you should do a ten minute cool off walking followed by more streching....never give up even if your muscles hurt, they should then you know your doing something right!!!
Good Luck and enjoy
