What do you think about large age gaps between two people in a relationship?

I'm talking about adults who are able to make responsible decisions for themselves. Is there anything wrong with say a 25 year old dating a 50 year old?

Age does not matter.I am 40 year old female and my fiance is 22.I never thought I would ever date someone that young.But we worked together and talked all the time.I avoid my feelings for him for a long time because of his age.But finally we moved forward and we are very happy.Sometimes it still bothers what people think.But they are not us they don't live are lives.Why shouldn't we be happy?Just be happy!!

Here's what I say. Immature people haven't figured out what it is they are looking for. Guys mature around 27 and women around 24-25. So does the 25 year old know what it is they want? Are they ready to settle down? Are they intelligent, mature and wise enough to keep a 50 year old interested?

That's a large age gap to over come. Not only is there the mental maturity aspect, there is the physical side. 50 is no spring chicken. I would counsel against it.

The 25 year old has to give up too much of their youth and the 50 year old has no commitment for their future.

But then, you have to make those decisions, not me.

Age is nothing but a number. What would be weird is someone who acts like a child being with a mature responsible adult...then there might be something wrong. I've dated older men all my life, I wouldn't even consider dating someone my own age because of my level of maturity and the lack of maturity in others my age. If you are in love with the person, and feel that they are not taking advantage of you or vice versa..I don't think theres anything wrong with it. People may discriminate, because I have been through that with almost every relationship I've been in...but you can't let what other people say get in the way of true love. Good luck to you

I think that if two people legitimately love one another then there is no problem. A friend of mine who is 19 was dating a 34 year old... granted they are broken up now over some stupid stuff but that happens to everyone. But he really loved him and after I got over the initial shock of the age difference I realized that it didn't really matter that much

Ageing men are proud to have younger girlfriends. They help let think they are still sexually potent. It is usually accepted for men having younger girlfriends, but not the other way round.
It is alright for the moment but things are made more difficult as the man advances into old age and comes across health problems. Then the girl has to be prepare to renounce many pleasures in life and turn herself into a nurse. Bad for some one young.
My husband is 11 years older than I and is still doing fine, but he starts losing his memory at times and have bouts of anger that frighten me. This is not making life easy at times.
Think twice before taking an engagement.

I think that everyone is different and what works for one person might not work for the next. But if they are both of legal age and consent to the relationship then the only two people it should matter to are them. In my current relationship I am 34 and my boyfriend is 21 and we are a perfect match together... and age ain't nothing but a number anyways.
