yestersdy at work (i am a host) i was bussing tables and seating people when my manager told me to clean something in the girls bathroom so i was going there when this server said to me"since your not doing anything can you clean the mess your stepping on?" i told him i'm busy right now and he said "are you serious "? and called me a dirt bag but i ignored him b/ c i had to clean the mess in the bathroom and finish bussing off tables so people could be sat, who was at fault here? there were plenty of other people he could have told to clean up the mess to, and i dont know why he called me out on it when i was not the only one walking on it-he could have done it himself, what do you think?

Oh man this is a tricky one, I was a waitress for 4 1/2 years. I know both sides of that drama. It can be ssooo hectic sometimes you are expected to do 15 things at once. When there are 10 girls trying to wait on a wedding party of 500 things can be hectic and words are thrown, you shouldnt take it personal if your really doing your part! Waiters and hosts take crap from the customers, their bosses, and each other. Its kinda part of being one to be honest. Put it back at him if you want. I would have but of course I could probaly work circles around him. There has been times actually that I have been the mean server because we would be swamped and certain people would still be in the back putting on makeup. Our boss would tell them to get to work and apparently that word has many diffrenent meanings. Then i would just take thier tables well you know becasue the customers would be thirsty by then. Even though I didnt care to take it I would make comments because they really were lazy....In this circumstance dont tell a server your busy, I am almost 100 % sure they are busier than you. Tell him after you clean the B.R. and buss tables you will get it , smile, and go on

He should not be calling you a dirtbag. You should have simply said, "I'll get to it when I finish the bathroom, per (insert manager's name here)'s orders and after I finish bussing the tables. Perhaps you or someone else could get to it quicker? Oh, and by the way, there is no need to call me a dirtbag. (Insert your name here) will do perfectly fine in the future." Then keep on going and doing what you are supposed to be doing.
Do not get dragged into these petty little fights at work. Take the high road but point out where they are being an idiot. Works every time.

I would just bite the bullett and try to turn the other cheek.
But I have learned that your manager probably expects you to tell them what is going on. It isn't helpful to the team to keep the manager out of the loop. Probably if this person acts like that a lot then customers must witness it at least sometimes.
You should find a good time to talk to your manager.

No you shouldn't let him talk to you that way. Your manager asked you to clean something in the girls bathroom, so you do what the person who has control over job says not the idot server! Yeah he may joke a lot but it was not his place to tell you what to do, especially if you didn't know you were stepping in trash. Let him do it if he is sooo concerned.

Let this one slide but remember what he did. The next time he does something like this call him on it. If it continues go to the manager. He may have just been in a bad mood. But if it is a recurring action then do something about it.

Get a different job Precious. Not to be insulting to you, but fast food work sucks.
Even working in a department store can be more rewarding in my opinion.

I think that if your manager told you to do something, that takes precendance over what a server tells you to do. I think he sounds unprofessional and disrespectful and you should not allow him to talk to you like this. If it happens again, let your manager know.

He was wrong and he is rude. The next time he tries to pull something like that, tell him that requests from your manager come before he does.
