I spent over $230 on massages for Valentines 3 days earlier. He's doesn't buy me anything and when I ask for something he gets irritated. Plain and simple, I expect a man to buy dinner. We go at least every other week to dinner. Am I asking too much to have a loving boyfriend that at least gives me birthday cards?

No you are not. It sounds as if you need a new boyfriend. You deserve to be loved in the way you would like to be. Don't settle for anything less. Something as simple as this might seem, could ruin a marriage. Find someone who has more respect for your wants and needs.

Most guys I've encountered don't think very much when it comes to birthdays. I've gotten plenty of normal dinners and nothing else. I would like at least a card or a rose or something that they put some thought and time into. I understand your issue.

So you are expecting a return? From what I gathered, you are expecting your "investments" to have returns. Sometimes, giving doesn't mean you expect to have a return. That's the meaning of "give". If you are expecting something in return, then I guess it should be called "Trading" or, "Barter". Dont' you find it satisfying, just to give? If not, please re-assess your relationship with this person. Maybe a "happy birthday" wish from him would be enough?

of course not. I am in the same situation and you have to decide if it's worth the arguement. Some people don't value holidays or birthdays. Talk to him because he may just be indifferent to it. Make him aware of what you expect. If you don't u cant get mad.

Nope, he sounds like a selfish loser. Time to find a new boyfriend because he obviously doesnt think much of you.

Well, if you are shallow you can expect anything you want.

The question shouldn't be should you be mad, it should be should you be evaluating your relationship with him, and your values in life in general.
