I am a Christian and wanted to know what other people thought. Please don't answer if you are atheist only because I know you don't believe in the afterlife. I respect that fully, but please don't answer.

Hell is simple: it is being eternally separated from God and His love.

Hi, In the original manuscripts, "hell" is all but cemented in fact; this is what it says:
Upon Christs return, there will be a 1000 yr. period of teaching and disipline (both needed badly) and nobody will be going to hell or anywhere else until that period is over.
Then, Satan is to be released for a very short period; After that event, all those that do not make it, will go into a lake of fire, and be turned to ashes from within. No pit of eternal fire, with bad old uncle henry burning like bacon, and screaming in pain, while we all look on from our happy place in Heaven. It just isn't written.
The only thing that is forever, is the smoke that will rise up from the ashes, forever and ever
(smoke does that).
Thats it. The process will be instantanious.

FIREBALL2: No, you are unaware of hebreisms and idioms.

Get on YouTube or Google Videos and watch some NDE (near death experience) videos. Some speak of those that visited Heaven, others that visited hell. Just watched a few last night.

Here is a hell one, and another woman elsewhere saw all this guy did as well.

Edit: As you see....even when you ask nicely......atheists still have no morals or values and still must "add their 2 cents" cause they "think" it does something. It does....it strengthens our believe in what is to come.

Hell will be eternal torment and separation from God.
Jesus compared it to 'gehenna' or the place where the people of Jerusalem used to burn their garbage outside of the city walls.

He said that it would be a place of 'weeping and gnashing of teeth'.

"You know what hell is dontcha folks? It's Andy Gibb. Singing 'Shadow Dancing' for eons and eons...and you have to wear plaid yellow bellbottoms and sit next to the Bay City Rollers."

I don't believe in literal hellfire, but I do believe in Hell and that it is very unpleasant. There may be different levels.

Hell is a place of unimaginable torment, NOT THE GRAVE. Calling Hell the grave is TOTALLY UNBIBLICAL...
