i had a bowel movement earlier today and i wiped away some yellowish mucus from my vagina. when i looked down it was stretching out from my vagina. i know this is really graphic and i apologize. i was just wondering if the pressure from the bm could have caused some of my mucus plug to dislodge and if it was normal.

You having a BM and loosing your mucus plug are just a coincidence. In order to loose your plug your cervix has to start dilating. It also means that your body is getting ready for labor. This could happen with in hours or weeks after you loose your plug.
Signs of labor could include loose stools, backache, nausea, or contractions that take your breath away or can't talk through. Also, if there is any bright red blood or spotting you should contact your Dr. immediately. Note that there could be a blood tinge to your mucus plug and that is normal, but notify your Dr. to let him/her know that you have been loosing your mucus plug.
Good luck to you! I hope you have a healthy baby!

Both are a sign of early labour. This is normal. Labour could be a few hours away or maybe still a few weeks. Report the plug loss to your obstetrician but don't worry. Good luck!

YEs it could have happened. Just like when you have your period and you push for a BM the period gets a little heavier. ITs just like pushing your baby out...you are using the same muscles. Call your Dr and make sure.
