Any one have any idea which one to use during prayers. I tried couple of things from the local Indian stores in denver, but the carpets are blackening badly. I have noticed the camphor's are creating a lot of dust. Anyone having the same experience. ? Suggestions ?

hi there, I do use a silver plate and I don't burn it on carpets. What I was saying is it is creating a lot of dust and the dust settles in the carpet. Its all over the place.Within two weeks of use, I noticed that the carpet area below doors or corner of walls getting black.

Shouldn't you use the camphor in a burner of some sort.
You can't burn it directly on your carpet or furniture.
You could use a wooden or metal burner and discard the dust into the trash can.
Ask the store owner if you are still not sure.

I think that maybe you need to ask an assistant at the shop to show you the camphor that can be burned. Also try to use a burner that has raised sides, so that the ash does not fly out of the burner. Also discard the ash quickly, so that it does not blow away.
