Bombs being dropped would go down. Rockets being fired and war in general would go up.
What keeps the Taliban and Al Qeada types in their caves vs large training camps?
Air power.
What keeps Syria from invading Israel and slaughtering the Jews?
Air power.
What keeps China form invading and conquering Taiwan?
Air power.
What stopped the genocide of ethnic Albanians in Serbia?
Air power.
The more bad people feel insulated from negative repercussions the more likely they are to do bad things. Now you may or may not like the US but you had better recognize that the threat of US/NATO air strikes keeps a lot of otherwise overtly hostile action from taking place. Remove that threat and you've opened Pandora's box, leaving the only recourse in the face of a hostile force lots and lots of rockets and ground troops.
Both of which would cause more "collateral" damage than the guided air strikes you'd have put an end to.
No planes = No bombs, may sound nice, it may feel good, it may even seem like The Right Thing™ but I do believe that the Law of Unintended Consequences would bite us firmly in the *** on this one.

Organ Transplantation would get a lot harder. Many, Many people rely on aircraft to either get them to a transplant, or get their new organs to them. Without airplanes, more people would die each year. It's dramatic, for certain, but true.

............ can you imagine everyone stuck in one place ............. may be automobiles would have developed more for trans continental role ................... rail road would be more popular and more of big ships and more titanic stories .................... and everyone would wonder how it would be if we could fly to all these places ............. same old story ...........
