I already have a short-haired chihuahua for the past 7 months and have had no problems. I have heard recently because yorkies hair is just like human hair, they don't shed their hair and are excellent for people with allergies. Can someone help?

Yorkie makes the list below. But interestingly, Chihuahua doesn't? Poodles, and Poodle mixes (all sizes) are considered one of the best breeds for allergy sufferers because they do not shed. To be on the safe side, maybe a Yorkiepoo? LOL

Dogs Considered Good For Allergy Sufferers

If a breed is not listed here, it does not necessarily mean the breed is not a good dog for allergy sufferers. I am sure there are many more breeds that I am just not aware of.

Please note: One person's allergies may vary greatly from another person's. It is always wise to visit the dog to see if you are allergic to it before you bring it home. Hypoallergenic Dogs

That is only if it is a super tiny Yorkie One that will only be 2-4lbs full grown. Those in all small breed dogs you have to tend to their blood sugar. I don't know about allergies. As I have Maltese and Toy Poodles.

Neither yorkies nor chihuahuas are "hyper-allergenic" breeds. Yorkies actually have wool. Shih-Tzus have hair.

Breeds for people with mild allergies are Shih-Tzus, poodles, bichon frisee and maltese and few others. But it depends on if the allergy is to the fur, the dander or the saliva.

No, actually Yorkie hair is just like any other dog hair, it sheds and makes us sneeze.
I reccomend you stick with the chihuahua.

Their hair is a hassle for someone with allergies, the chihuahua is good. A good dog with someone who has allergies are poodles. lol.
