That depends on what your talking about. In most places it would mean to take the Bible and teach it to others. The "Gospels" in the Bible are the first 4 books of the New Testament; Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Those are the books where we see Jesus directly talking.
What you might be running into however, doing a report on abolition and slavery, is the way that people interpreted the Gospels. If you take just one section of a chapter and don't pay any attention to any of the scriptures around it and consider its context, then the Bible can be misinterpreted and meant to mean many differerent, many wrong things. For example, many people would take certian verses and claim that they meant that slavery was from God and he wanted them to do. While at the same time, slaves were finding scriptures and saying that they claim that God was condemning slavery in the Bible. It was all how they chose to interpret it. Most of it was wrong anyway.

In New York City during the war.they hung and murdered over a 1000 ******.In the north they hung many many 1000's of ****** just for being ******.while the Northerners were attacking the Southerners. usually they killed the free ******.not the white northerners slaves they had in the north.
the preachers were around at the time of the slavery days as they have been around for 2000 years up to that time. in the north. But it was in the South were the slaves were invited not made to go to church ,they had the balcony.to sit in.separate .while the preacher.preached the Gospel, to speak the Gospel means to teach people about the Gospels of Christ..Since the bible spoke of people owning slaves. the Americans, many people.not all people. but most people. both northerners and southerners thought it was OK to have slaves, which of course it wasn't OK. it was a terrible thing to enslave others.Lincoln said he was going to send ALL ****** back to Africa or to South America after he won the war against the Southerners but he was shot dead before he could implement that plan.

That an unusual situation to say it. But "preaching to the choir" means when you're lecturing or yelling at a group where they already agree with what you are saying or are already doing whatever you want done. An example of this could be you're in class and your teacher is going off about all the people who cut her class. But the people in class at that moment don't need that lecture, they are already in class. Make any more sense?

It means to tell people about the love and mercy of God that is offered because of the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus, on the cross, because without Him, we would ALL be con-demned to a hopeless eternity in hell with satan.
Best new testament books to read. John, Romans 1-10,
Galations.....AND the other three gospel accounts, Matthew, Mark,
and Luke.
Here is the commission that Jesus, Himself, gave to the great apostle Paul...
Acts 26:18......
You can call 1-800-759-0700 -- and ask about anything that I left out....???

To tell others ones perception as to what is the will of God. (Which not necessarily means that ones view are the same as God's).
It can also be considered as "a polite attempt to impose on others the religious beliefs that have been imposed on us by our religious leaders". No disrespect intended.
If you are studying such a dark area on our history as a Nation. It is also important to understand that the slaves had their own religions, and they were forced to convert to Christianism. And those who were deprived of their families, their homes, their land, their freedom, and were threatened to death if they refuse to convert to Christianism, had no other choice but to convert in order to live and hope that such conversion would set them free.
Slave owners often told slaves that by converting to Christianism, they would no longer be slaves. Of course, slaves accepted to convert to Christianism for they didn't know that the "freedom" meant by those preaching to them was only hypothetical.

As accepted in the christian community, it's the act of teaching and convinceing people the teachings of Crist as recorded by the deciples. It tells of salvation through the belief of Christ haveing come, lived, died for our sins against God. That he was crucified, and willing died. That he was buried and rose from the dead after three days. Now he sits at the right hand of God and makes intersession of our prayers to God. It is believed that God could not understand the temptations and failures of man except he experiance it himself. Christ was "God" in the flesh of man. Christ claimed to his followers he was with God when the foundation of the earth was formed. Now if you want to believe God put evolution into action I suppose for me I can deal with it but most people can't. Many of Christ teachings were to help us through our daily lives in dealing with the obsticales that we all deal with. During the days of slavery, I suppose that's pretty much all they had to look forward to when considering the impposition of life that they had been cursed with.

Gospel means good news.
The good news is Jesus who was God's son was born of a virgin, suffered and died on a cross for our sins and rose to escape death/sin on the third day. He who follows Jesus and his teachings will be saved.

It's sharing your beliefs - there are many ways to do that - through your example, through friendly conversation, through direct teaching, giving something like scriptures or related book or film as a gift...etc.

Talking about what the bible and Jesus had to say to anyone who has ears, basically speaking the truth of religion. Good luck with your project.
