I have two five month old kittens with absolutely horrible breath. I give them feline greenies more than once a day, and i feed them premium kitten food, but their breath is just horrible. I know their teeth are not rotting because most of the time that happens with older cats and i have HAD an older cat like that. What is the best remedy?

You must find the cause. Often the cause is some medical condition, like renal failure, but your cats are too young for that. It doesn't hurt to give them a check up though. Also deworming may help, or changing their diet, perhaps they eat too many greenies? I don't think cats need so much veg, so perhaps their intestine makes them smell?

First check with your vet to see if there are any dental issues. That seems rather unlikely in a kitten, but you never know. Also have them evaluate how bad the breath is. It may just be your perception! There are feline mouthwashes out there, but I haven't researched them and so can't give an opinion one way or the other. I would only say that YOU should do research into them before giving them to your cat. As for brushing your kitten's teeth - you should do it. I failed to get my girls used to it when they were kittens. That's when you should do it. Here's a link with info on getting them used to it. FYI, you don't use human toothpaste - you can either brush with nothing, use Wysong's DentaTreat, or purchase feline toothpaste. (The second link includes a video).

Brush your cat's teeth, and stop giving greenies. Greenies can cause serious health problems in some animals, including impaction and death, if the animal doesn't chew it right, or eats too much.

Well, you can go to the store and try buying some cat mints and you can put those into your kittens' food bowls. I had to do that with my puppy and my three kittens. It worked everytime!

Good Luck!

Check their food out.
Have their teeth checked by a vet to make sure there's no problems.
The vet may also want to check the GI (digestive) tract to make sure it's ok too.

They need to go visit a vet. There are other illnesses that can cause that besides bad teeth. They are really to young to have dental problems anyway.

What's that great line of Ralph's from The Simpsons? "my cats' breath smells like catfood" could it be that simple?!

Check the food you are giving them, quit giving them wet food, that's gross, and it may give them worms, give them dry food and put a little milk in it to make it a little soft.

She may have a respiratory infection. I would seek medical attention for her immediately. If you have other cats isolate her from them it will spread.
