What would this enable me to do in the Armed Forces? Would I still just be patrolling Baghdad?

That would depend on the MOS you decided on.

Hey man I also scored a 99 AFQT with GT 141 MM 146 CL 140 and EL 146. I am currently an SE mechanic on an airfield in North Caronlina for the Marines. The kind of job you get depends greatly on how much your recruiter actually cares about you. I would recommend intel or something to that effect in either the airforce or navy. Unless you want to be a lifer, you should approach the military with your future (long term) in mind. The right clearance or even MOS can open doors for you a few years down the road.

Pretty much anything above a 75 is all the same in the Army. Technically speaking, anything above a 50 will qualify you for any job. Here's a hint: If you don't want to be patrolling the streets of Baghdad, don't join (in any MOS). If you don't mind the possibility, then by all means...

You should do Navy Nuclear if you got a perfect score- what an opportunity!

99 is the highest you can score on the asvab. you do your job in the military. you may do your job in Baghdad but not everyone in the military is patrolling the streets.

basically it means you are qualified to train in all of the open jobs.. within certain guidelines.. you still have to meet the other requirements, such as normal color perception or gaining a Clearance. plus you still have to meet the phyiscal and moral requirements as well.
