Last night I was meditating as a way of unwinding before I went to bed. I did what I normally did (focus on breathing, relax limbs etc.) and I was visualizing the place I usually go to relax when all of a sudden my whole body started... pulsing. It was strongest in my right hand and arm but it reached all the way through my body. It was accompanied by a kind of tingling feeling. I've never had this happen before, I'm not sure what was going on. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

It's just a distraction. Do not follow it. Just keep your attention on the object of your meditation, and the sensation will pass. It's perfectly normal to have unusual sensations during meditation because your brain is firing in rhythms that it isn't accustomed to. I often have out of body experiences during meditation, hearing sounds--sometimes whole words or sentences--right next to me when I'm alone in meditation, I've had the sensation of being pushed, pulled, and even stretched from one end of the room to the other. It's all just a distraction. If you go chasing after it, you will squander the effort your put into meditating to begin with. Simply be mindful, keep your attention on your object of meditation, and you will see that it is all temporary, and really not worth pursuing.

The mediation for me is a strange feeling that help me understanding myself.

I always have very strange sensation when i mediating : my temperature seem to get very very high, or my body weight a ton and 'drown' in a solid floor, body seem to be eject in a non gravitational world, the room made a 360 degree....like a dream : strange, fearfull and seem to be very real.

This is why i mediate: i want to have strange feeling to be in contact with my 'obscure' part. The farter you will go in your unconsious mind you will start to have very high and strange feeling. I want to explore myself, the part wich never go to sunlight.

When i wake up from my mediation, i feel stronger. I know myself more, my limits, my reaction. I feel every feeling, muscle, bones and organs of my body. I'm not just a brain. "We" are fusioning with my unconsious mind, my deep desire and my body.

These experience are inconsious deep and can make you very mad or better. Watch out. See a experienced psycologue that can help you understand the meaning of a strange feeling. Exactly like a trauma : why i'm afraid of....why i always do...why, why why
(My psy call them trauma : i call them wonderfull new undiscover world of my mind)

When you will fully understand and completely explored this part of yourself.Go deeper in mediation you will have stranger and stronger feeling like this........

The best experience of my live are made when i'm mediating and i found myself more. Go for safety with a experienced psycologue and go deeper :)

i have had many beautiful experiences with meditation, it really makes you have that beautiful natural high, like you want to live life. I have had times where i felt my body was completely numb and tingly and i was smiling the whole time, i think its just a sign that your doing something good for you, keep doing what your doing.
