My friend and I are travelling through Ireland in mid-June. We were hoping to have a rather free-form trip, and decide what we wanted to do when we got there.

Will we have trouble finding lodging? We aren't really picky, but just want to make sure that we'll be able to find a bed.

Thanks!

That depends on what part of the country you intend staying. In general though, June is the height of the tourist season here and it would be a lot safer to book somewhere rather than spending a lot of time and effort trying to find accommodation when you get here. Prices will go up from may onwards and you may find that the only rooms available to you if you don't book will be luxury and very much over priced.

Dont make reservations, as they lock you in to be somewhere on a certain day. You may wish to stay longer in one place, and you cant because of a reservation.
We motored through England and Ireland recently, and had no trouble finding great B&Bs, or hotels. One place was an old manor house 300 years old, was fantastic.
So, just go, stay away from the big towns, very busy and crowded.
Would suggest you start to look for B&B signs, straight after lunch time, then you are right to explore..good luck
Ireland is a most interesting country, every town has a story to tell, and your hosts will give you a hearty breakfast, so you wont need lunch!!

I did that several years ago - we purchased vouchers in advance to use at bed n breakfasts inn's throughout Ireland - It gave us the flexibility to stay where and what towns/villages we wanted to stay at - only problem with June is that it is at peak tourist season, so you may get stuck having to call several places before you can find a room. The voucher program will send you a guide of inn's along with your vouchers.

Depends on when you go. I'm going next week so reservations aren't needed. I would think the week of St. Patty's would be a nightmare though.
