Spring or steam distilled water is best. Sparkling water has chemical gasses added to it, unless it is from a naturally sparkling spring. If you use water that is labeled "purified or enhanced" then you are just drinking chlorinated tap water-despite the claims (can google bottled water for more info) Good luck in your diet. You can enhance your water by adding a slice of lemon, lime, mint, or cucumber-cucumber gives it a lovely silky texture. I am vegetarian, and love to juice vegetable using a juice extractor. (I got mine cheap at a thrift shop) If you want some info about healthy eating, you can visit my blog at

Either is fine if there are no calories and no sugar, but sparkling has carbonation which sometimes causes heartburn.
I prefer sparkling flavored water because regular water makes me gag.

The common assumption is that as long as it's wet, it's working to hydrate you. However, sparkling water is more difficult for the kidneys to filter, so still water is the good choice.

They're both the same...sparkling water just has carbon in it.
If you're bored with plain water, sparkling water is more fun.
It also is great for replacing wine or champaign...mix it with fruit juice (like grape juice or apple cider).

I find that fizzy water makes one feel fuller as it pressurises the gut. If you are on a low calorie diet it may assist. Otherwise water is water. Good on you for looking after yourself.

Still water. I'm not sure exactly why but the carbonated version tends to interfere with digestion apparently.

carbonated beverages aren't good for you. especially if you are going to be working out...they mess up the oxygen levels in your blood and make it harder to carry oxygen to your brain. I can tell a huge difference in how my lungs feel when i run if i have drank a soda or carbonated beverage the day before...it makes me feel so tired. Definetly regular water is best.

You may want to verify this, but in addition to the digestive issues, (my doc says it contributes to acid reflux issues) my sister has some bone density issues and her doctor told her to STOP ALL carbonated beverages of any kind, including waters, because it leaches calcium from your bones.
