Ok, so they say that the peanut butter lids that have the numbers that start with "2111..." are the ones that had the salmonella in it. I bought one before the outbreak, the no sugar added kind, that has the number on it. However, I've had about 1/8th of it and haven't gotten sick at all. Is it possible that say, the salmonella is in the bottom of the container, but not the top? I'm not making a whole lot and don't really want to spring for another jar of PB. If I haven't gotten sick from that jar, will I?

Take the peanut butter back to the store where you purchased it and get a refund and buy yourself another brand. Do not eat the peanut butter. It doesn't matter where you are in the jar, if it contains samonilla, that means the whole jar. Do not risk eating it.

Yes! Thanks for reminding me to look! I had the big a** jar of the Great Value and only 1/4 of it is gone. Don't sure if it made us sick. We're a family of 6 and someone always has a stomach ache. We're not old or plague by illness, generally healthy people so a little salmonella isn't going to do anything but give us some flu like symptoms this time of the year. I think about the main thing I made was Scotcharoos and the peanut butter would have been heated to a boiling point. And to Nickname above me: all about the lawsuit, huh? Sorry, chump you have no damages and no leg to stand on, so to speak. Grow up and get a job! But I am tossing this jar, who has time to be sick. But remain calm, unless you are high risk salmonella won't kill ya!

Why take the chance of getting sick, pitch the jar and buy a new one, this is not something to be taken lightly, especially if u have kids.If the numbers are the same then yes its very likely u could get sick!!!

mine has those numbers too and we made sandwiches with it. however Peter Pan/Congra said not all tests show it has salmonella, however because a few did the are recalling the whole batch. and so if you mail your lid, you can get a refund. i threw mine out a few days ago, kept the lid and will mail it for a refund.

In this situation it's best to play it safe. I suggest going to doctor and get yourself checked out, also make sure you throw away that peanut butter.

they are recalling it for a reason...they will reimburse you if you take the jar back to the store, the store will give you a brand new jar free!
