The most important thing to do if being attacked by a dog is to try and stay upright and on your feet. If you fall down you are much more vulnerable. If there is anything that you can get between you and the dog, do it. I used a clothes line pole once. If you can get up on top of anything to get out of reach, do it. Grab anything in reach to throw at the dog, rocks, grab a tree branch or something to hit him with.
YELL at the dog. Don't be yelling "help me! help me!", yell at the DOG. "get away! NO." Something like that, but yell in a command voice.
If the dog actually attacks and bites you - the best thing to do is to "feed" it your weak arm. For example, if you are right handed you hold up your left arm and give him that to bite. It's a lot better than your face or neck. If possible, don't try to pull your arm out of his mouth. I know that sounds stupid - but most of the damage is done by the teeth pulling and tearing. It's a lot better if he just grabs your arms and hangs on. Keep yelling and hitting at the dog. And hope that someone hears you and calls for help.

You shouldn't just be fearful of Pit Bulls. Bite Statistics show that Pit Bulls are not the biggest danger of biting. Temperament Tests show they have better Temperaments than Golden Retrievers. Do not think that it's just Pit Bulls who will attack. That could be a deadly assumption.
The thought that Pit Bulls have locking jaws is a MYTH. Research it.
Also, Pit Bulls were not bred for Human Aggression. They were bred for dog/animals aggression. Your more likely to get hit by a car.

If you are being attacked, you should defend yourself by kicking, hitting, or whatever will get the dog to back off. Be aware, though, that an already aggressive dog is likely to meet violence with more violence.
If a dog of any size (larger than about 20 pounds, probably) is attacking you and you can't get up on something like a car or dumpster, the best thing to do is get on the ground, bent over with your knees tucked in (like the fetal position but upright). Cover your ears and head with your arms and keep your face in your lap. You'll still get hurt, but the dog can't damage any vital organs or your face; most other injuries will not be life-threatening.
I don't know where you live that people are being bitten all the time, but if there are many dangerous dogs in your neighborhood, carry Direct Stop with you. It's the same idea as using pepper spray, but legal. It should disorient the dog long enough that you can get to safety.

the perfect ingredient I heard replaced into about replaced into 2 Rottweilers that attacked and killed a neighbor and then became on their proprietor. they does no longer allow paramedics get to the human beings attacked until eventually the police shot them. that they had continually been sturdy canines. the owner must have finished something incorrect. It does seem that the Pits get each of the blame. In my adventure the pits are the sweetest canines there are. I have 3 APBT. They love everybody.

Pit bulls are not necessarily vicious, but many are abused or left to run in urban packs, which can be dangerous. My vet says that anyone who walks dogs that could get into a fight should carry pepper. That makes the fighting dogs (or a pitbull if it attaches to you) sneeze and let go.

First of all don't ever put yourself in a position to get attacked!! Use common sense. Leave them alone.
If you see a pitbull don't run. That is instinct for them to chase. If you see one wondering around loose, call animal control.
You hear people getting bit all the time because the owners of the pitbulls are irresponsible and should learn how to take care of a pitbull before owning one.

Pit bulls aren't really vicous dogs. That's just how somwe people raise them. I think it is cruel. But you shouldn't be too worried about it. If it does happen... try hitting them in the nose or between the eyes.

your more likely to get hurt in a car accident. If you are really worried about it, you sholuld buy a break stick and carry it around with you all the time. It won't prevent the dog from attacking, but if it bites you and won't let go, a break stick will force it to release it grip.

pull down on the lower jaw...this works with any dog. Also yell for help. If a dog is attacking a friend or another dog, grab the attacker by its hind legs and pull. Never get near the head as you will get bitten.
