My fiance bought me a gorgeous teddy bear for Valentine's Day, but its EYE is missing, you think he would have gotten another
one by now?

He gave it to me on Valentine's Day, I got all excited jumping up and down, then I turn the beautiful teddy bear around and it's MISSING AN EYE! He saw the shocked look on my face,

He apologized, said he noticed it while he was at the check-out line, but didn't want to lose his spot in line! He was in no hurry, we had no plans; he couldn't spare 5 minutes to get a normal one?

He "claimed" he'd exchange it the next day, but it's going on a week; I'm beginning to think he got it out of the trash. Other than the missing eye, it seems new, but you never know!

Is it just me, or is a one-eyed teddy bear a bit morbid and creepy? It's supposed to be a romantic gift.

What should I do with it, and him?

Let us gain some perspective here. When it comes to gifts it's the thought that counts, and maybe he just didn't see anything wrong with it. (He is a guy, after all.) And I doubt very seriously that he got it out of the trash.

Are you with him because he gives you presents, or because you care about him? Try and focus on what's important. If you're together a year from now, you'll laugh about it. Go to the craft store and get some felt or something and make the teddy bear a little eye patch. Name him One-Eyed Jack or something like that and make a joke of it. That's what a grownup would do.

Does he make enough to buy you a unmarred teddy bear? And why are you putting so much emphasis on a stupid toy anyway? Being together and sharing the day is what is important, not a toy, even a defective one.

He bought this out of love, and now he thinks little of himself, not worthy of YOU, and you were the one that did that to him. This is one of the reasons people start to look at other people.......because now he'll feel like he can't do right by you. It's JUST a toy............get over it. Plus, you could have laughed it off, said that he / you can go together to buy another eye, use some crazy glue and TA DA, you have a bear that totally put together. Crazy how immature people can get during holidays!!

Lets give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the bear was one of the last ones on the shelf and he didn't even notice it only had one eye. I know lots of men who are clueless when it comes to buying romantic gifts.

I would just love it as it is, not worry about it going back to the store - its a teddy bear, not an item of clothing! Its a sweet gesture from your guy, be appreciative of the fact that he actually tried. There are lots of ladies out there that would love to have gotten any sort of gift on Valentine's day.

I would believe that he would buy a bear and not notice an eye missing but I do not believe that he noticed it and did not do anything about it because he didn't want to lose his place in line.

It sounds as if it is either been re-gifted to you or he had someone else pick it up for him.

If he is your fiance you should know his financial position. If he is short on money, you two should agree on no gifts for these holidays. If he has enough money and is just too cheap, then run, run, run before you marry him.

I would not ask him about it again though.

Maybe it's a Winking Bear! And while we all would love to have a Perfect bear, handicap bears need love to - The point is you got a guy who obviously cared enough to think of you - as opposed to the many that forgot their ladies. Try to find love in your heart for that 1 Eyed bear, Maybe put a Great pin over the empty space. Turn it into a positive - as a reminder that Love like Life's not always perfect but Worth Having!!!!

It's suspicious. How the hell didn't he noticed that the teddy bear was missing an eye. It's true that us guys don't pay attention, but that's kind of obvious, you just have to look at it. Even if it was an honest mistake, the fact that he didn't exchange it until now it it shows that he can't exchange it, meaning it's a recycled gift. Actions to take:
1. dump him
2. hit him with one-eyed teddy bear in the head

Hey, the boy tried, didn't he? Appreciate the thought and relegate the bear to the bottom of the pile... or at least a place where his missing eye is covered!

V-day isn't about gifts, it is about the thought! At least he cared enough to come up with something!

You deserve better! Dump him and move on: attach note to one eyed teddy bear.

give him the benifit of doubt- men are lazy- in his eyes at least he got you something-in our eyes-why not lose your spot in line to get me a good bear. men and women see things differently and from his point of view-v-day was a success. In the big scheme of things-what is one bear.I really doubt he will go back and try to exchange it,if you want it badly enough-you can do it,although he probably didnt keep the reciept.judge the man-not the present.
