Your one-yr-old will only be able to party for 30min to an hour. She will be so overwhelmed and excited that she is likely to have a meltdown. The best thing to do is have everyone come for presents and cake. While they are eating, put in a video of your little girl's first year (home videos or put pictures on a DVD as a slideshow). People will linger and talk but make it clear that the party is small and short so that you can put her down for a nap if she needs one. Schedule the party for her playtime, if it falls over mealtime, order pizza or subsandwiches etc. Make sure everyone has a chance to tell her happy birthday and give her a hug and a kiss. Save the really rockin' parties for when she gets a little older, she will be better able to enjoy it. Make her a cupcake or small cake of her own in addition to a large cake for the guests, little ones tend to look with their hands, your guests will appreciate it. For the kids, have a little scavenger hunt around your house or yard and then in for presents. As for party favors, summer is looming so I would give small balls, jumpropes, or some candy (for the way home heeheehee). Most of us want to throw a huge party when we manage to keepa kid alive for a whole year (especially our first) but the little ones are still too little to really party yet. Hope that helps you keep stuff in perspective.

Since she is just turning 1 I wouldnt worry about reserving a place for her... what about having it at your house? it would be alot less expensive! Try making some goody bags for the older children, put some fun sunglasses (that are like a dollar for a bag of 12 =) some party hats, candy, whatever you think the older kids would be interested in... How bout making it a strawberry shortcake theme... or winnie the pooh.. do whatever you think is cute!! =) remember she is just turning 1 there is no need to go overboard.... just make sure the other kids have fun!! =)

Hows about a visit to the farm, or a soft play area? It's gonna be difficult to find something that will entertain children with such a huge age gap but i think most farms have swings and slides to entertain the older children and the animals for the younger ones. Most places do party packages so have a look around. Have a great party!!

My favourite favour bag idea was the time I went to the dollar store and got pots and seeds & potting soil and made those the goodie bags (it was a huge hit).

Have the older children organize the younger children’s games.

Do you really have to have a theme? Your baby is turning one and won’t know or care what the theme is.

Send the kids outside with a couple bins full of water balloons.

Good luck.

Well, I understand the need to have some sort of celebration, I agree with some of the other respondents, she's one, she's not going to remember it.

Ask the parents of the other kids what stuff they like. I think most kids could give a "Rat's Behind" about anything but video games & sweets, so don't go big in the theme idea.

That's my 2 cents.

nicely, to be truthful, there is perchance no longer any thank you to repair Twilight in to a 4 year olds birthday social gathering without it being irrelevant for her age. that's what Twilight is, meant for youthful adults. I advise, perchance you've like a dress party or some thing for her, yet i think of it may be very confusing to have a Twilight party which would be appropriate on your daughter. purely my opinion.

For your daughter, the party is about memories. She won't remember it, so the pictures end up being the best part.

My daughter's was in the summer, so we had a barbeque, they played on the play ground and we went swimming (my apartment has ammenities). ut if her birthday was in the spring like your angel's is, then I would just make a dinner that she really likes and have cake.

An added bonus, you could take her by herself to a build a bear workshop..they are tons of fun and it something you do together to celebrate her day.

Well, this all depends on whom the birthday party is for. I've gone through two 1-year-old B-day parties with my kids. And one thing is for sure: the kid doesn't know what the hell is going on. So technically, the party is for the parents and older kids... and I guess for posterity, so you can show your kid the video tape later. In my humble opinion, all you need to do is put a small cake in front of the kid and let her go to town on it.

Most little girls like Dora the Explorer. Maybe a Dora and Boots cake with the Dora party bags. Also a Dora pinata. If it's not too cold you may be able to have it in your backyard with alot of streamers.

I would have a clown or a jumpy house. For party favors, kids LOVE candy & you might wanna give some kids balloons 2! Make it a carnival//circus theme!
