Well, it is water but there couild be traces of some dust. It is pure enough to drink, in fact much purer than most rivers. But be careful, in some areas, acid rains are common since the water picks up SO2, NO and NO2 etc. as also some water soluble industrial pollutants. In such areas, rain water may not be very safe.

Rain drops are formed when the water vapour in the clouds condense to form water. It then "precipitates" into rain. So , technically speaking arain drop is pure at this point. But, by the time it falls down it would have collected dust and impurities, which varies from place to place, depending on the level of pollution. So, it is probably not safe to drink!
p.s. Ever heard of acid rains?

Could be just about anything. It depends what was in the water source it was evaperated from, also what was in the air it occupied as a cloud, and finally what it may have collected on the way down.

it is mainly water. Probably some cosmic chemicals in there, safe enough to drink but I'd stick to the tap water
