^is another question about great dane training (read best answer)

Try going to a puppy training class at PetsMart. I've gone there with all of my new puppies, and they arent that expensive. Plus they get socialized with other dogs and people.

You train Great Danes just the same as you do any other breed/mix.You need to be consistant, persistant and use lots of praise. I recommend that you enroll them in obedience classes.

Danes are a very intelligent dog breed...they learn quickly but they can also be a bit stubborn/strong willed.

****Great Danes are no more predisposed to health issues then any other breed/mix of dog. Also Danes are highly trainable dogs*****

If you don't feel comfortable going to a trainer, there is TONS of material on training dogs, and specific to your breed. Great danes are fun and very intelligent animals, they are difficult to train because they get so distracted...especially a baby. You could try half.com.. they have tons of books that are affordable (much cheaper than going to a trainer). You could even enroll them in doggy day care where you might have the option to train them while they are there (also expensive) but good for their learning and social skills. I hope this helps you!

I agree with Dane Lover. My Great dane is 4.5 months old and we are training her with a lot of consistency. She is going to be very big so it is important for us to establish who's in charge now. My Dane thinks she is one of my kids so we have had to crate train her so she knows her place. I think that this is the best way to go with these dogs. Good luck

Great Danes aren't known for their intelligence. Due to the out crossing breeders have had to over look some of the lesser faults. So you may have a couple of Danes that lack higher intelligence.

I have had two of them that I had adopted from shelters. Unfortunately this breed has a lot of problems because of their size. Don't get me wrong, I love the breed and I would adopt another if I could. Their life span is too short and they are so predisposed to all kinds of ailments.

Good dogs, I love 'em.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/r0EO5

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

I beg to differ, Danes are a highly intelligent breed, and very people oriented.

Take them to obedience classes, they need to be socialized with people and with other dogs. They learn very quickly and are eager to please. Probably a great deal of your problem is having two puppies. They bond to each other, which makes it more difficult to teach them. You need to train each one separately, so they will concentrate on what they are learning, instead of each other.

It would be to be much easier if you could enroll in obedience classes with your dogs. Also Google "Nothing In Life Free" dog training. NILF is a great training tool but you and your family must be consistent and persistant.Good luck
