I would say it won't last no more than a year at max. Once they started to commit their love, seeing each other more often and share beds, I would say that love will disappear eventually.

True love does not disappear, it EVOLVES.
It moves on from the lust stage to something deeper, more profound, you share friendship, good times and bad, funny memories, and even kids.
If you found your true partner, your soul mate, someone who is compatible with you on a physical, mental and spiritual level, you have a life time to explore and know what it truly is to live and love as a couple, not to be lonely, to understand, compromise and work as a team. It's all about balance. And like all good things in life (including wine and cheese) it takes maturity and an educated palate to really appreciate it, Not for it's perfection, but rather, for Love's beauty since it doesn't need to be perfect to work.

I feel very sorry for you if you truly beleive that. True love can, does and has lasted a lifetime!! Real love only grows with time. Think about the love of a child, then they grow up and go through problems, you love them all along but after the problems are taken care of the love is even stronger than before. Same with a relationship. You live and learn, grow and mature, then committ to a lifetime of love.

If you're talking about AVERAGE "love".... then yeah, probably it won't last a year. Young couples have a hard time with commitment. They're still young and want to explore more. It's mostly just for fun.

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and plan on getting married after college.

Plenty of couples are married or together decades and express their love for one another until they die so there's no basis for your idea of a year. That was disproven centuries ago.

you think like this because you take the partner for granted. Had you not taken for granted then you enjoy lifelong love.

Its in your hands ( where are your hands now??)
