Which of these 3 medications works fastest to bring Blood pressure down. This morning as soon as I got up out of bed, I had a bad headache. I took my BP and it was 152/112 Pulse 88. I have Verapamil EXT Release 100mg or Diovan Hct 160/125mg or Clonidine Hcl 0.1mg. These are all medications I've taken at one time in the past. Which one would get my bp down faster? None of them keep it down, that's why I've gotta go back to see my doctor next week.

It's better to combine two or three of the following anti hypertensive agents to get the maximum effects.

Anti hypertensive medicines are classified into six categories:

* The beta-blockers as Tenormin, Concor...
* The alfa- blockers as Clonidine, Minipress, Reserpine...
* The calcium-channel inhibitors: Verapamil, Adalat, Plendil
* The ACE inhibitors as Coversyl, Captopril...
* The angiotensin -2 receptors inhibitors as Losartan, Irbesartan...
* The diuretics as Lasix, Natrilix, Aldactone...
Anti hypertensive agents are potent drugs and should be used according to the prescription of a skillful and experienced MD. So it's better to contact your cardiologist!!!
Avoid greasy, salty foods, smoking, coffee and hard exercises!
Don't forget to screen for other conditions that may cause headache: sinusitis, brain tumors, migraine, tension headache, cervical bones degeneration etc...
Good luck!

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I have no experience with any of those medications.. but I do have another recommendation.

It's called Biofeedback.. You can use it with several ailments.. and particularly headache.. I've found it to work with me.

You have to train your body to control certain things that you feel you have no control of.. such as blood flow.

To try and get rid of your headache.. Imagine your blood flowing to your hands.. This will reduce blood pressure in your head and relieve your headache. It does take a little practice though.

Hope this helps.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information
