A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
Roald Dahl

I know that this is by Roald Dahl but does anyone know what book? If possible, even the page number?

It's from the film 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory', the screenplay of which was written by Roald Dahl and David Seltzer. To the best of my knowledge it does not appear in the book on which the film was based, 'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory'.

The article I linked to below suggests the line in the film is not original to either of the screenwriters, and may allude to one of the following literary quotes:

'A careless song, with a little nonsense in it now and then, does not misbecome a monarch.'
-- Horace Walpole (1774)

'Misce stultitiam consiliis brevem: Dulce est desipere in loco.'

(Translation: Mingle a little folly with your wisdom; a little nonsense now and then is pleasant.)

-- Quintus Horatius Flaccus) (1st century B.C.)

The immortal "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
Actually, the line may be from the film, which Dahl did write the screenplay for.

It's from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I don't know what page, but the whole book is worth reading (again). It's still my favorite!

It's from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... a classic and one of the first books I've ever read. I still enjoy reading it from time to time while nibbling on a bar of solid milk chocolate.
