When I joined the reserves 5 yrs ago I was making a small salary. Since then I started a company which has expeeienced enormous growth. We are now a multi million dollar/year company with 25 employees and I am the sole owner. I don't want to be discharged from the army reserved , but being deployed would ruin the company. I was alraedy deployed to the middle east involuntarily for 1 year. Is there something I can do?

Well, it looks like you're going to have to incorporate to keep the business alive. You should've done that a while ago if you're really a multi-million dollar company. If you've already got orders to be deployed, it's time to groom a CEO predecessor to run the company while you fulfill the terms of your obligation.

Here is the problem, if your unit is already on MOB orders it is to late to do anything but get out. If they are not, you can transfer to inactive reserves, or ready reserves. This is where you are on inactive status and can deploy when you want, but it does not stop them from calling you up if there is a shortage of your MOS. The best thing to do is to talk to a carrier officer as there are also certain qualifications for these postings. and there is some training time that you have to meet in some cases, especially if you want to retire one day.

If you were gone for a while, the company would be RUINED? You don't have much faith in your employees, do you. Try CROSS TRAINING some of your better employees so they can step in if you are out for a while.
Where ever I was stationed, I always had 2 - 3 of my troops were properly trained and qualified (with a desk guide available that I made up with HOW TO...) to take my place. That way, no one could say, SORRY , YOU CAN'T GO ON LEAVE BECAUSE NO ONE CAN DO YOUR JOB.

Transfer to the Army National Guard. That gives you a year of stability before they can deploy you, again.

That will at least give you time to work out a plan for someone to watch the business while you're gone.

Isn't there a non-active Reserve?
