Only an addict if you are using it too much or using for something other then the treatment of your condition. I myself have Adult ADHD and have been taking 30mg Adderall XR 1 pill in the AM for a number of years. The treatment is unfortunately permanent, you stop taking the med, it is right back to where you started, but it is worth it. Hang in there.

If you really have ADHD then you should feel like nothing is wrong, and you should be acting "normal" as in calmer and quieter. Taking speed (amphetamines) when you don't have ADHD gives you a high akin to feeling really wired.
Biologically, it's like this. The brain cortex in a non-ADHD brain is not stimulated by brain waves on its own. That is, neurostransmitters do not fire across the cortex (outer side) enough. Therefore, the brain seeks stimulation outside of itself, and the person goes from task to task unable to focus because the brain is asking for repetitive intense stimulation.
If you add a stimulant like Aderall, the drug stimulates the brain chemically, therefore allowing the person to focus because the brain is getting all the stimulus it wants internally.

Yes, ADHD medicine does work, but has severe side effects.
Take the news for example, every kid that SHOT UP their school like Columbine, were victims of ADHD Medicine since they were young children.-- And the ADHD Pharmaceutical companies paid the media big bucks to withhold that information to the public.
Do you want to be another ADHD statistic?
ADHD is caused by Nuerotransmitters in your Brain Mis-firing.
They mis-fired because of an alleric reaction to something.
Go to an Allergist, find out what you are allergic too.
We found our 9 year old son, who was also diognosed with ADHD, is allergic to Peanuts. After removing all peanuts and peanuts substance from his diet, he no longer has any ADHD sysmtoms.
Some doctors know about this, other denie the facts, because of the Pharmaceutical companies.

Adderall is amphetamine, which has been around for years and years. It's safe to take if you take it as prescribed. Most of the negative information about ADHD treatment is related to medicating children, which is very controversial. Attention deficit is a real illness, but if you're questioning the diagnosis, you can have a psychologist do formal testing (e.g. the TOVA).

It's all right, for hyperactive attention-deficit I would recommend Adderall. But for the inattentive type I would recommend Concerta.

If it is helping you, and you are not abusing it, then you are no drug addict.
