I love this question, this line comes from the film,Indiana Jones but the reason that I am amused is that some time in the near future somebody will post this question,
`What does the Bible mean about only the penitent man shall pass` It will reinforce my belief that a little knowledge can be dangerous.

It was made popular by the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade movie but it actually has biblical meaning. The word penitent comes from the word "repentance" meaning to turn away from sin. So a penitent man is a man who has turned from his sin. And the shall pass is referring to a person passing through this life to Heaven. So the meaning of this line is that only a man who has turned from his sin shall enter Heaven.

Indiana Jones and the last crusade. They are going after the goblet that apparently was used by Christ at the last supper. Indie had to go through a big and dangerous obstacle course to get there. It included scripture he had to put together in an ancient language and then by utter faith cross a bridge he couldn't see. The goblet was protected by an apostle who said that line.
Does this sound right? That's where I heard it, anyway.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. One of the hints to get past the booby traps in the passage to the grail. Meant to say 'duck' to miss the flying blades.
