I have a 10 month old jack russell and was wondering if anyone had some original games they play with their dog. Her favorite thing to do is fetch and retrieve toys/balls. I can throw her tennis ball and have her bring them back to me for hours and she loves it. I know she is not bored, but I wanted to try something a little more challenging. She is also learning to catch the frisbee and will be taking agility classes starting next month. So just wanted some other ideas. Thanks!

I'm assuming if she's going for agility training then she's obedience trained as well. If not, that would be a good place to start. If she's obedience trained you could teach her new tricks, like sitting up (begging), shaking hands. Hide and seek is a good game using toys and humans as the hidden object. Balancing a treat on her nose is a more advanced trick she could learn. Set up some hurdles in the yard and go ahead and have her practice jumping them. Those little guys have LOTS of energy! Have fun!!

There's a book that I just bought that's called Beyond Fetch by Dr. Caroline Coile Ph.D. It consists of different activities you can do with your dog to make it fun and interesting for the both of you. It's $4.10 on Half.com if you'd like to check it out.

I play a game with my dog that is a mixture of fetch and hide and seek. I throw the ball and when she goes to find it I dive behind the nearest object. When she gets the ball she has to find me before I'll throw it again. Its so funny to see her try to sniff me out!

If you have any cardboad boxes use then as tunnels and have her go through them. you can also hide a couple treats around the house and have her search for them.

Most puppies I know like games like Pictionary and Cranium.

Trivial Pursuit is far too difficult for your average puppy.
