"Always be faithful in little things, for in them our strenght lies. To God nothing is little. He cannot make anything small; they are infinite. Practice fidelity in the least things, not for their own sake, but for the sake of the great thing that is the will of God, and which I respect greatly."

Hmm seems like you're asking two different questions: 1. How has faiths helped mankind and 2. How has faiths hurt mankind. By "faiths" I take it that you mean various religions.
There is no way this could be answered in the limited space that we have on Y! Answers but lets look at various things.
Often faith in one's religion gives people strength to do what they believe is right or to survive through trials and travels. It often comforts people in their darkest hour and as they approach death. Various religions have inspired beautiful works of art, music and construction.
On the other hand, religions have suppressed various scientific discoveries, been used to oppress many people and either caused or been used as an excuse for wars.
On a full analysis, we'd find that religion has both hurt and helped mankind throughout history.

Faith is belief in the absence of evidence. It comforts people to believe that there is someone out there guiding them and that there will be a place for their souls to go to after death. Science cannot prove or disprove the existence of God or Heaven and Hell. And even if it could, most would not listen because they like their Faith better.
I'm not defending religion, I just understand that as humans we still need it.

I agree to what "dbytz" has to say...
Well as far as I know we do need faith....for everything....there is nothing that can replace it...not even scientific evidence...
But what you are asking is out of the line.....With one example that I say I can prove you wrong saying that we do not need faith since science has enough evidence....
When you lets say like girl but are not sure that if she like you or not you need to have that faith and step up to her and tell her...no science can help you out there...lets say if you need confess something knowing that consequences of that confession might ruin your life...for a while but then it will be back on track....you know that but are scared to do it science wont help you...you will need faith....well there is a lot that can be said about having faith or not....but i think this might be enough....

Faith has helped some people through crisis.
Faith has brought some peace of mind and heart.
Ample scientific evidences does not do this.

Science has proven physical and psychological needs of human beings. Since we are also proven to be individually different, you should speak only for yourself. I personally, have absolute need of faith in Jesus Christ and I know it without a doubt. I believe you do also and just refuse it or do not know it.

The Apostle Paul was not sad to have placed his faith in Jesus.
He said:
"On account of him I have taken the loss of all things and I consider them as a lot of refuse, that I may gain Christ
Phillipians 3:8
It'd be nice to have faith like his ......no?

"has faiths dones" - interesting, you need a grammar/spelling check badly.
Faith has helped me carry through my life withour worrying about the future. No scientific evidence gives you any security about your future.

Religious institutions have often established schools at with people could learn to properly use their languages. It was at a religious school that I learned that the verb and subject should agreee in number, and that the auxiliary verb has no number at all.
