Using any application to download music that's covered by copyright without paying for it (and without permission of the copyright holder) is illegal. In fact, Limewire has been sued for allowing its users to illegally download music, and will be going to trial this May. Since downloading music using limewire is illegal, many hackers and prankers enjoy attaching viruses and trojans so that your computer gets infected.
The RIAA has sued around 20,000 people so far for illegally downloading and sharing music. The fine is $750 - $150,000 per song, but most people can't afford to pay that kind of money when they'd downloaded hundreds of songs, so the RIAA usually settles for around $10,000.00.

limewire, the program, is legal but the downloads on it are most likely not. It doesn't matter whether you bought the pro or not. The basic limewire doesn't cost anything. Limewire can mess up your computer so you just have to be careful what you're downloading. So basically if you're willing to risk it, go ahead

i think you have to get itunes first, then use limewire filesand convert, then download. i would just use a mp3 player- i river h10 seems good. i use limewire and do i have cool files.? hell ya. never had a virus and they will tell you about corrupted files. sometimes you may get incomplete ones, download them again. it's cool. limewire is popular too.

No, its not legal. Yes its free, and no its not safe to download to your computer. Some songs are fine, but many also contain viruses.
Its up to you though, many people feel the risk is worth it for free music.

Yes, legal and free. But I am not sure about its safety.(Because everyone can share own files)
Here I suggest you another way to get free videos/music for iPOD, TubeHunter.
It's safe to use, because all videos/music are from your fav YouTube MTV.
And what's more, all videos/music from YouTube are free to download if you have TubeHunter.
===========================
TubeHunter downloads YouTube/PornoTube/xTube videos to PC/iPOD/PSP
