If I was a god, I could simply wink them out of existence. Why torture them with a flood or a plague or some other horrible way to go? That's cruel and un-godlike, IMHO.

There is a lot to it....I mean I believe in the concept of re-incarnation...and if I was a god (which I am not) I would rather take a birth on the Earth and try to set an example by eradicating the evil and letting the people know as to what results would come out...if they were evil....

Basically any relegion you take....whether it is Christianity, Islam, Hindu we know there has been re-incartions or so called in-incarnation of gods...

For Chistianity Jesus was reborn as he vowed to do so....

In Hinduism...Several Gods have reincarnated...to destroy the evil of the earth....

Rather then destroying the whole mankind they havce done this instead...So if I was a god I would definetly take birth help the good to destroy the evil in such a manner that people who are neither good nor bad...or who are good...or evil....would know the final consequences of there actions...

And as my friends here talk about destroying everything with fire or water....as far as that goes I dont think that cleaning up would have left any seed behind...because regeneration and cleansing up are two different things....

well technically both do the same thing but one destroys the good along with the bad and what I am saying destroys only the bad sustaing the good which lowers the chances of evil coming back...because the ratio has changed from 1:1 being something else....

This is a good question who so ever has posted it and there is a lot that can be sayed about it....Peace Out...

I guess it would have to depend on what they were doing to each other. Genesis seems to imply that they were murdering and oppressing each other, and that none escaped this practice except Noah, who refused to do so.

Murder is the only sin specifically mentioned before and after the flood, and judging from the way Cain's descendants so easily justified it in Genesis 4, the trend was growing. Self-defense murder drew down from God a curse of protection, not a curse of punishment.

(Sounds a lot like the way liberals justify their political stands today. Good is actually very bad and bad is really, really good if you just take the time to understand that the murderer is actually the victim.)

As a man yes. I am not God and don't have a clue as to how high He is.
He did wipe it out once in the Flood.
He did start over, it seems that the bad seed was still there in the remainder that was not wiped out.
The next time it will be by fire not water.
Fire has a way of cleansing everything.

If you were a parent and were disappointed in how you're child turned out, how would you "remove" them so you could get a better model? Someone better behaved? Someone smarter? Someone prettier? This child didn't turn out the way we wanted, let's kill it and start over!

i think the accounts in the bible are pretty good examples to follow .. and i think Gods plan in the bible to weed out those that are disappointing from those that choose the way i would want them to be is brilliant ...

Well, once I had made them, I would NOT destroy them (even though I screwed them up) because it’s not their fault and now their already there. I guess I would just leave them alone in hopes that I wouldn’t screw things up any more than I already had. I wouldn’t blame them because I screwed them up, but I just wouldn’t hang around. Maybe that’s the problem, we were just god’s first try and he screwed us up. ;-)

________
I meant that I would not destroy them (not that I would - makes more sense now)
