I have a tattoo on my foot and i love it, its my favourate one out of the ones i have ... stomach, lower back and thigh.

It does hurt a little more than your back but its bearable.

My friend has stars on her foot starting with a large one and then gradually getting smaller towards the bottom of the line of stars they do look good.

I have a pink flower with like black swirls coming off it i love it! i find myself in summer when i have flip flops on turning my foot towards people so they can see it!!

When you see the right design you will know just remember its there forever so dont rush into any old design! Good Luck x p.s you could try and design one your self do you like this one http://tattoos.lovetoknow.com/images/thumb/2/2e/200px-Flower_Trio.jpg

Choose something that means something to you and not something that will look good now as your opinion on this will change as you get older. All my tattoos have meanings to me. I have a couple of words that I have had translated and tattooed on that way they are interesting in design and mean something. You will get sick of a flower or stars or other things that you have tattooed on now that are considered cool and funky as in a few years as you get older your opinion will change and so will the fashion. I've had mine since I was 18 and now it is popular for people to get what I have had for almost 16 years and I still love them as they are funky and personal.

Oh and the foot is the place that will hurt the most on your body and you will find that a lot of artists will not tattoo there as a result of the pain and also that they can not guarantee the quality of the ink there.

There's a world of "flash art" on the internet and if you'd like I'll give you an address to a real popular one BUT you really need to think about it. Some tattoo artists won't tattoo your feet because they know that 9 times out of 10 it will need to be touched up and if they are any kind of good shop, they will do the touch up for free (some make you pay to touch it up). My son did a tattoo on a foot the other day that had stars with waves of color separating the stars.

Yes, like father like son, we both tattoo in my shop. He;'s been tattooing for 8 years and I've been at it for 20 years now. If the address isn't correct, you can email me and I'll be happy to look it up for you.

Always glad to help.

hey i think its a great idea! i personally have a tattoo on the inside of my left foot. (old English writing) it wasn't sore just a little uncomfortable. i did want one on the sole of my foot but was advised against it as it would wear off quickly due to old and new skin forming. lots of people comment on in in a positive way and a friend of a friend copied me. its also a place than can be hidden when necessary. good luck xxxxx

classy and funky are two very different definitions, it might be hard to get both in the same.

What kind of thigns do you like? Suggestions here can only be very generalised like "flowers" or "pink swirls"! we dont know you or your tastes, go to a studio and look at some of their designs pick out features that you like from different ones and have an artist draw you up soemthing custom that is exactly what you want.

here is a link to a few small ideas to get you started on some of your own:

i have a fairy covering the full top of my foot but its 1 of the most painful places i've had 1 so far & i've got them all over! i use a cream now called ametop which you can get from the chemist & put on about an hour before i have a tattoo & it numbs your skin so you don't feel a thing but i only use it on areas i know are going to hurt bad.

go for it. i have two tattoos on my foot, and i have to say that they are both my favourite.

and u may regret it so think about it carefully. but luckily with a foot tattoo, they are very easy to cover. but they hurt like hell! so make sure ur prepared for that. out of all the places ive had a tattoo, my foot hurt the most.

as with all tattoos, make sure u go to a respectable, clean tattoo salon, and check certificates and hygeine.. although if ur thinkin bout gettin a tattoo, u shud have researched all this already.

dont listen to anyone else about whether or not u shud get one cept urself..if u want one, great. but if u dont, its still cool. it should always be ur choice..

and either get sumthin u cant stop thinkin about, like stars or a butterfly, or sumthin that means alot to u. but dont get it jst for the hell of it.

hope this helps!

Ideas?........... not really. The reason I'm answering is to advise. No I'm not one of those bumpkins saying NO don't get a tattoo they are repulsive..... on the contrary when done with taste. Only to let you know that there are places on the human body that, when "ink" is applied, needs to be retouched very often! Ask the artist about it, he/she should know.... if not ......RUN! lol (The foot / toes is one of these places)

As for ideas... every studio has a book or twelve of ideas or photos of ink done there. A lot of artists sell their sketches to tattoo places too!

I've got one on my foot! It runs on my left foot from the side of my little toe across the edge of my foot in a straight line, it's a saying I really liked.
It hurt, but not loads.
If you wanna get one get one, don't listen to the people who say don't, I think you are being really sensible and thinking about it instead of just turning up at the tattoo parlour and getting something on the spur of the moment.
Stars sounds nice, they are universal and unlikely to go out of fashion. Fashion you say? Well, yeah, dolphins were all the rage in the 90's and now they are seriously NAFF!
Just promise me you will never tattoo your boobs, it never looks nice.
