Pavlov's dog would say 42, I find our dog learns in the 15-20 range..but needs to learn again after a few days, but with fewer repetitions. How about you?

It varies between dogs and some dogs are smarter than others and learn faster. And, of course, they need to be properly motivated to learn something new.

Modifying a behavior you need a bridge as Pavlov did. His bridge was the meat powder.

As far as repetitions go, it will depend on the individual dog and his willingness to learn. A head strong dog and a submissive dog will learn at different levels. So the repetitions will depend on the dog.

An average of 30, but, that is NOT written in stone either. It depends on the dog and your training methods. Some dogs learn faster, some slower. Others are motivational learners and some others need corrections. I am currently handling a malinois that is the fastest learning dog I have ever owned or trained.

Our puppy catches on to what we want her to do in around 3-7 repetitions, but then she won't always obey under all circumstances either!
