I have met a guy online and there is a bit of an age gap but the main thing is he lives in a whole different country. I love him to bits and he feels teh same way and i am due to meet him in a few months for the first time. My question is, are we doomed to fail because of the problems we will inevitabley encounter or can it actually happen

They can, but both people have to be patient with things and not become so fixated on seeing each other as much as possible. I've been in two that eventually failed. One died because of distance for the most part, but the second failed because we just had a hard time communicating.

Just be patient and don't rush things. I sort of like them because it gives me the space to still be my own person and to be able to do other things. Communication is the key, though, as well as a realistic approach that the relationship can't just be a purely physical one, or else it is doomed to crash and burn.

Why don't you make time to see each other?
If he loves you enough, you should suggest him to come and see you for a weekend or so.

I have once flew from Japan to US to see my bf. He did the same too. We also had holidays together in a different country.

Don't think you're doomed because of the distance, or because you met online. Try and work out by meeting at first, and realize if your love is a real one or not. Things could start from there.
Good luck!

I dont think of all people desires to have a protracted distance relationship. existence occurs and gets in the way, you only could paintings around it. If somebody desires to be with their long distance BF or GF adequate/or they love them adequate, they'll circulate to the place the different individual is and supply up the long distance ingredient. those people who've relationships over the information superhighway or out of state "only because of the fact" are in all probability dropping their time. long distance relationships wont final if there isnt dedication.

Yes, it can work. I have had a long distance relationship for a few years with a woman from a nearby country . In this case the woman is amazing. It all will depend how much you put into the relationship and how faithful and sincere each person is to the other. Good luck!

Dont make any decisions until you have met and got to know each other better. Contact via email, internet or letter is no guarantee you will get on when face to face. If you do get along well then there is no reason why you cannot have a long distance relationship.

Long distance relationships are hard when a couple have known each other for some time and one of them has to move away.
Your situation sounds like it's going to be quite a struggle.

Usually Long Distance relationships do not work, but still there is a chance. You shouldn't give up because there is always hope, and even if it dosn't work don't sweat it, you'll live.

It can work but only if you both
1. trust one another
2. keep in contact
3. have the commitment to work at the relationship

most of these relationships fail because people find someone they like/love closer to home (so to speak)...

It can work and will have hard times.
Good luck!
