I would take a couple tylenol now, then in 3 or more hours start on Advil. Forget the Aleve. It's good for chronic conditions like arthritis, or for taking right before your period is supposed to start to help prevent severe cramps, but for acute aching it doesn't seem that effective.
Can you soak in a tub of warm water or take a warm shower? That should help. Spend some time resting, but don't sit around too much so your muscles can recuperate through increased circulation.

Don't take Aleve and Advil together. They are both in a class of medication called NSAIDS -- Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. One of their side effects is that they are very hard on your stomach. So I'd take Tylenol when I'm on one or the other. Ibuprofen is also an NSAID. I'd forget Aleve and after about 6 or 8 hours switch to Advil. You can take 600mg like 3 times a day, but take it with food. And if you need to take a little tylenol with it (I don't think you'll need to), do that.

Happy sledding!

Dont take two different nsaids together like aleve and advil--it will increase your chance of a serious gi hemorrhage. Tylenol is ok but beware of the maximum dosage. It is a weak painkiller so you need to take near the max of 4 grams in 24 hrs, but any more and you can reach toxic levels. Don't take alcohol if you are on high dose tylenol.

Some doctors are going to the practice of prescribing a ppi with an nsaid to decrease the complication rate. This can be done by buying otc prilosec and taking one every day you will be taking the nsaid.

Stick to 400mg of ibuprofen if you can. multiple studies have shown there is minimal added analgesia past 400mg but a lot more side effects.

Aleve doesn't work for me, either. If you are able to take a hot bath or shower to relax your muscles do so. Or some gentle stretching exercises will help relieve the pain. You can take up to 6 Advil (ibuprofen), in 12 hours for pain. Tylenol doesn't do much for me, either.

Yes you can take more pain med by why did you only take one Aleve? You should have taken two. Take another one now. If that doesn't help then try a prescription dose of Advil aka ibuprofen in 4 hours.

Yeah, I'd take the tylenol. Aleve doesn't really work for me either. My hubby swears by it. I like tylenol. You'll be o.k. It's not enough to hurt you.
