Perhaps my filter is broken or I've exposed myself to too much negative retoric but it seems that more and more these days eligible (single, disease free, etc.) black men do not want to build relationships with black women. I myself am an equal opportunity dater. However, it seems to me (with my aforementioned broken filter) that black male celebrities, corporate executives, professionals, regular Joe's, etc., exclusively date any race of women excluding black women. Why????

All and all, I find it rather depressing. When I was younger I dated anything but black men. As I matured and began to know myself I became attracted to black men. Maybe this question isn't fair because I've dated and am currently dating black men. It just seems that eligible black men are far and few between. And when you do find them they're mostly with white women or (less frequently) with Asians, etc.

They do.. But I know what you mean.. Some of the younger generation of black men seem to be following what they see on tv..(can anyone say brainwashed?) I was watching a cartoon the other day..and in the background you see a black boy and white girl dancing.. If they're so into interacial yadda yadda..why don't they show black women and white men? Or an indian man and asian woman? I'm not against interracial dating..but black guys need to look closely at why they're dating white women..is it for love? or for something else?

I think your opinion is based upon the area in which you live. The majority of the men that I have dated are black and college educated, straight and not married. So, when I hear women have those kinds of discussions about black men and where they can go to find single ones it just astonishes me.
I think you need to open your options as far as locations and networking opportunities.
I would think it would be harder to find one that was sane. There are alot of crazy f&*)#$s out there.
Most black men DON'T want a women with issues of ANY color!

Yes it does matter of you date or Marry someone of another ethnicity. I only want BLACK WOMEN. "But I do not want anyone who doesn't want me. Not more than Fifty years ago, Black people were looked upon as Monkeys, animals and dogs. The Black man and woman get stupid. Instead of uniting we keep watering down our Ethnicity, all of the Black women and men who were huge, dragged and beaten are rolling over in there graves. Because we as an Ethnicity have given our true who we are away. Black people, you've just shot the best thing you had away. Our ethnicity's ability to overcome

First of all, black women dating white men is NOT selling out, and there is no reason why a single gender should be expected to uphold an entire community. A black man dating a white woman is not less black, and black woman dating a white man is not less black either.
I don't understand the (oftentimes unrequited) allegiance to black men. *shrugs shoulders*
Secondly, I'm wondering where this idea is coming from. Is it from TV or real life? Remember that Tv is biased, and they will happily show black men with mixed/white women, but never show the other way around. There are bw/non-bm couples out there that do not receive media attention like ww/bm couples so it seems skewed and it seems like black men are flocking to white women. Yes, successful black men marry white women, and yes, more and more successful black women are marrying white men...So I guess it goes both way.
That's debatable. In most groups, the majority of people marry within the race so logically most black men are marrying...you guessed it...black women!!!
I know I'm going to get it for this one, but successful black men may not be going after black women as much b/c black women are very large. How often do you see millionaire men with obese women??? And black women are generally expected to wait until the 30s to get married, and let's be real, I've met plenty of wealthy men in their 30s and 40s specifcally in search of younger women.
ETA: Many black women do have problems finding dates b/c they do not want to socialize. I know Ive met black women who thought a black men would come to their doorsteps from God via UPS. That would eliminate the need to get out of the dern house and start meeting people.

Shoot no...go to the "hood", the black men are still hanging with the black womens. It may appear that black men are going after women of different races but as a rule, I don't think you can make a blanket statement that they do not want to build relationships with black women, as a rule. That is a falacy.

Because many of them are very ignorant and are quicker to sell out their race then even the black women are. That's why its so important for sisters to remain loyal to black men, over time they will see our unwavering dedication and will eventually be compelled to change. This won't happen if we give up too and get white men, that makes us just as bad as them and reassures that nothing will ever change.
****For the person below me****
Dating and mating outside of your race is selling out. Even the poster of this question sees that there is an obvious problem with black men "selling out" by getting with white women. By black people not "upholding the entire community" like you suggested, has helped our community stay messed up and the status quot remains the same. Some one has to get the ball rolling for change and it starts with that same one person you said shouldn't. Do you even know what the definition of a sell out is?
Oh see I didn't read your entire message until now. So what some black women are fat. When I go outside, for every 1 fat girl I see, I see 1 or 2 skinny girls so thats not a good excuse. Besides, whites have plenty of fat people and even they are not having the problems with their men that we have. Look at Mexican women, damn near all of them are fat or chubby and their mexican men still love them so the problems with black female-male relationships are obviously bigger then weight.

From what I see, they want all the women no matter what race they are. I have never seen a "faithful" black man. Ever. Seems like they think it's funny, juggling 10 different women carrying their baby.
I'm sorry if I sound stereotypical because there are a lot of white men who are just as bad. It's just that when I see on TV talk shows, men taking lie detector tests because the woman can't seem to trust them, the majority of them are black men. When I see this, I can't help but to feel that a black woman might find more security in dating a white man.

Not every black man feels the same, you know? But I have a personal problem that I experience with LOTS of black women...
My brother and I were talking about this just the other day. It seems that when we see a black woman on the street and smile and nod to them, they give this negative attitude back. On the other hand, if and when we do the same thing to a white woman, they usually smile back. I've been able to have more casual conversations with white women that I don't even know, like at grocery stores and the library. Whenever I try to approach a black woman they seem to have a guard up or something. It's too much to over look. So I've stopped trying. Some black women are just too uptight or something. I don't know what it is, but my life is too short to figure it out.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to date a Thandie Newton type, but if she's too stuck on herself and intimidating, I'll settle for a Charlise Theron type instead...they're both from Africa, by the way.
