I've always wondered this question what pleasure do hicks get when they watch grown men take 2,000 left turns??? Why is it exciting I hate it. Its boring to see people go around an oval track 500 times.

no wonder john b look at your picture, trucker hat barn in the back, HICK! as a matter of fact to sassy i love watching golf since yesterday phil mickelson lost an exicting one 4 hole playoff the old vet vs. the young star. I will admit this last race was moderatly exciting because of the crashes and engine fires thats why half of the rednecks watch it. NASCAR was perfectly depicted in an episode of REno 911. The guys got together for a family reunion 5 minutes later you seem them drinking a beer gawking at the tv with the noise of cars going round a track.

It would be different if NASCAR required some skill - like shifting, turning right, AVOIDING other cars.

But NASCRAp doesn't involve any of those - and isn't real racing.

Real racing starts in about 6 weeks when the Champ Cars hit the streets of Vegas for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

What's the interest of golf? I've always wondered this question what pleasure do yuppie trash get when they watch grown men walk around hitting balls. Why is it exciting I hate it. It's boring to see people walk around a lawn hitting balls all day. Look he hit the ball. WOW!

I think every golf course in America should be destroyed and a park put in so families can have picnics and go fishing. Not so rich trouserstains can each take turns fellating each other for being greedy plutocrats and whine about those darn blacks and hispanics lobbying to join.

You have to understand a sport to appreciate it. I take it that you don't understand all the facets of the sport.
Look, NASCAR is one of the most advanced sports there is. It takes brilliant minds to create a winning team. On second thought, it takes brilliant minds to create any NASCAR team. Years of research and millions of dollars go into every car they build. As far as the drivers go... well, they are seriously talented.
NASCAR used to market to a "mountain man" kind of demographic. Remember those old "Head for the mountains of Busch" commercials they used to run. However, in recent years they have changed their marketing schemes to target a more general, larger demo. of fans. I knew when I heard Brittany Spears announce the beginning of a race that things had changed. To be honest with you NASCAR is marketing to those who have money now. The average redneck can't even afford to go to a race anymore.
You're obviously not a fan. Perhaps one day you will realize that it's not a hick-redneck sport and it's very high-tech. Almost everyone who works for NASCAR is making some serious money these days. You must be jealous.

I would like to say im not a Hick. And i happen to love NASCAR. It is just as exciting to see drivers racing around the track as it is to you to watch people walk from hole to hole in golf. Its always fun watching the person you root for win and the person you dislike lose. its just as competitive as any other sport out there.

Humans have always been intrigued with cars and speed. Nascar is not about the "hicks", its about about the amazing thrill of our driver hero's in a beer can with fours wheels and a controlled bomb competing for the number one position at speeds we can't drive at on the street. So save some of your video game money and go to a race, and smell some fuel, buy some ears plugs, pick a driver or continue to play Texas hold-em till your butt goes flat.

i don't personally know any hicks, or why they would like nascar, but i watch it because in the us it's the most prolific and a available for viewing type of racing there is. i prefer open wheel, champ car f1 and irl, but if i want to watch a little bump and push i'll watch nascar. all the variables make it hard to predict. and it takes more athletic ability than the average yahoo might imagine. (more than it takes to jump in the golf cart and swing the little metal stick. )
try watching some different types of racing and make up your own mind

I thought that too, but after I watched it a while, I saw there was a lot more to it than a bunch of drivers making left turns. The team (driver and crew) are constantly making decisions about when to refuel, change tires, make adjustments to the car, and where on the track to run the car to name just a few. Trying to out-guess them is part of the fun. The other fun part is seeing who they're going to partner with on the track--two cars together can go faster than one alone. You expect team-mates to partner, but the unexpected alliances are part of what keeps the race interesting (and when they "owe" each other from previous races and don't pay up, watch out).

I happen to beg your pardon. I defiantly am not a hick, i live in fishers Indiana, look that up and you'll find out that that is a expensive place, full of Indiana's best athletes.

I love nascar because of the brute force. They're going close to 200 MPH so you have to be in great health to go around in that car, you have to recognize problems. I'd like to see you get into NASCAR and be good in it.. because i seriously doubt you can.

If you hate nascar, don't post here, simple as that.

So, let me get this straight. You get more enjoyment from watching guys chase a little white ball and walk on grass than watching 850 hp cars going 180 mph within inches of each other. The driver can't see and relies on some one else to tell him to pass or stay where he is. Did I get this right? You better get off the computer, I hear your mommy calling you.

PS Hey chicken. Why don't you let people im or email you??

What good has ANYTHING that was learned provided to society? Can answer? I'll answer it for you. NOTHING.

Over the years, most inprovements that you enjoy in you car today came about (at least in part) due to something that has happened in stock car racing. Disc breaks....power steering...AIR BAGS...."crash zones"...all came about as the result of some discovery made in racing. Jim Hall (the dude who desined the aero package now in use by CART and INDY cars) did more work around stock cars than any other form of racing....all in the interest of increased safety in the "everyday mom and pop" car.

It's a whole lot more fun to watch than overgrown men running around in tight pants trying to hit a tiny ball with a big stick!

(Ugh - basball is soooooo boring!)

At least there a wrecks to break up the monotany in Nascar, unlike boring baseball!
